St Pat's Card

My good friend out in California surprised me with a St Patrick's Day card. With so many life things going on, I'd forgotten the day was coming up. I looked at the calender and saw I had some time to send her something. So I made her a postcard. After all, she is Irish.

There is one 4 leaf clover in the bunch. Re-purposed cereal box. The yellow circles represent good…

Moving Along

I finally was able to get a set of cards done and here they are. I really liked doing mixed media but am ready to try something else. A fabric card or painting. Cut paper maybe. Too many ideas and not enough time. Oh well, I shall move along, keep going and see what happens. I do like the idea of using up some of my art supplies that have been sitting around. Now I can plan a road trip to get more.…

Received from Jon Foster, USA--the Umbrellas

Umbrellas are of course waterproof items used to protect our heads from bad weather. Jon's mail art, created with the tape and peel technique, is covered in waterproof shipping tape, protecting all the other collage elements beneath. And then there's the postage stamps of Susan B. Anthony and Abraham Lincoln--two American figures who risked it all to protect people's rights.…

Letter U from ejva and assorted Chinese treasures

Yesterday I found this very exciting envelope waiting for me in the mailbox.... ejva's letter U for project 26 and some wonderful Chinese documents and a savings book! U's images convey the sense of the world's overpopulation - masses of people, some beavering away on vast production lines, and an aerial view image of housing, an image all too familiar at the moment of Japanese towns devastated by the tsunami and earthquake. Unity? Yes I think so evja.

The savings book?  Add, pass,…

The Peace Crane Project

I've thought of an idea that I'd like to share with fellow artists.  Perhaps each of us could make one origami "Peace Crane" which we could send to a contact person in Japan. There's a story that's told in Japan which says that if you make a thousand Peace Cranes, a person or persons will be healed.

They're very easy to make and you can find instructions on how to do so from dozens of websites. If you can't find instructions, send me a message here and I'll give you a copy of…
