"Haiga" is a poetry/image art form that uses three lines of text ALONG WITH on image to describe a moment. Because English syllables differ from Japanese phonemes, the lines do NOT have to be 5-7-5 syllables -- they can be much shorter and still be English "ku". Preferably, there are no run-on sentences; no verbs; and the text alone would not evoke the same thing as the text/image together.
Traditionally haiku is about nature and senryu is about humans or human-made objects. Either haiku or senryu is welcome in HAIGA.Below is one of mine.DETAILS:The postcards I get by the due date of 31 December 2019 will be photoed and published in 2020.
If you want return mail, please clearly print postal address on the card.
If you prefer a PDF, please write Lois95618@gmail.com to request it.
I plan to publish the collection in a family-friendly place, so I will THROW AWAY violent or bigoted cards. (Erotic and non-violent political cards are welcome, but may be published separately.)
