Feeling inspired to make Mailartists portraits

I have started to experiment with a process new to me where I scan miscellaneous scraps directly onto my printer scanner. I then go at them with white-out, removing areas I dislike.  Then i repeat the process, scan, white-out and so on until it feels finished. For now i have decided to use this process to make mail art portraits with the intent of turning them into artistamps. So far I have completed Crackerjack Kid, Serse Luigetti, C. Mehrl Bennett, Jenny Hinchcliff, Carmen Kennedy, Picasso…See More

Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
I love the "anything goes" nature of it. My life long love for stamps as well as a new found passion for making artistamps that started with stumbling on a collaboration by Mike Dickau and John Held Jr. on Ebay. Artistamps, Add&Pass, postcards are my favorites!

Hi Adam, FYI: the envelope had 'no contents' written on the back--it's an 'envelope only ' mail art. The blank paper gives the envelope a bit of weight for its passage through the postal service machinery. But I think that a blank page can also be interpreted as letting the recipient imagine a creative use for it. I'm glad that you liked it. Take care!

Hi Jackson and Adam...I had fun building more bots today and named them Bubo, Sunny and Maximilian after movie bots. Thanks guys for making me smile!

Hi Adam and Jackson--thanks so much for the 'BUILD A BOT' mail art. It arrived on 3/15/20. I had fun playing with the pieces to make my own BOT--just what was needed on another boring Stay-in-Place day! It is heart-warming to see the the two of you collaborating on such a wonderful project. I'll be posting soon.

PS: I'll be getting some of the new 'CELEBRATE' USPS  stamps with their metallic sparkle--love them!

Build-A-Bot The collaboration continues!

My son Jackson and I have finished up our newest collaboration! I asked him what he would like to do next and he immediately said he would like to draw  robots. When looking at his drawings, I found myself thinking about these 1980's rubber stamp sets i have been looking at on ebay where you have all different cartoon parts or animal parts and you create your own "creature". I decided to separate all his bots and the final outcome was 14 robots and 42 individually carved stamps. I made boxes…

A time for Collaboration

Posted on March 27, 2020 at 6:30pm 7 Comments

During this time of social distancing and quarantine I have been looking for more projects to keep myself busy. My son Jackson who is 11 years old has been spending substantially more time drawing. I walked into is room a week back and saw these fantastic monster drawings he was doing on post it notes.  I snatched one unbeknown to him and decided to turn it into a rubber stamp. I was THRILLED with the result! I showed him and he was so excited, asking, if I keep drawing monsters, will you…
