If you have a few million £, $ or € to spend on your stamp collection, look at this link from the BBC:
** Unique stamp 'to break record' **
A 19th Century postage stamp from British Guiana could fetch a world-record $20m when it goes on sale in New York, the auctioneers say.

$1.15 for 1oz anywhere in the world? Be thankful; it would cost me over $3 to send the same weight in the opposite direction! (£1.88 for up to 40g from UK to outside Europe) Royal Mail put their prices up drastically just before privatisation to make it more profitable and saleable.
La Poste has put it's rates up too for 2014, everythings gobe up by 3-5%. And there is no forever, ever.
I love air mail stickers. I got a tin of adhesive stickers from my husband once that had replica stickers & used them all! Wish I'd scanned them so I could have replicated them myself on sticky paper. oh well. Thanks for posting Alan's image.
No, that's fine with me, Angie & Snooky. Here in Britain we still have the option of Air or Surface Mail for addresses outside Europe, so the stickers do mean something. I know some countries no longer offer surface mail, though. Print your own if you want to carry on using them!
In Britain, you don't have to use their labels, you can just write "Par Avion" on the envelope (French is the language of the Universal Postal Union; other languages are optional).
If this is of interest, I just found out that my local post office (Malaysia) no longer carries air mail labels. Instead, they will rubber stamp your letters.
Thanks, Angie & Snooky!
So you think YOU have trouble with the delivery of your Mail Art?
The following article appeared in the UK press last weekend:
“Letter arrives 62 years late, and empty”
“A letter posted in Germany in 1951 has taken 62 years to reach Britain.
The half-open envelope was addressed to 'James Dunnill' at Missenden Abbey, Bucks, who was a warden at the abbey when it was used as an adult learning college.
The return address to Germany is a teacher training colleege which is now owned by the University of Flensburg.
An abbey spoksman said: 'No-one seems to know how it has suddently appeared.'
Staff want to trace relations of Mr Dunnill and the sender to find out what was meant to be inside the envelope.”
