Garbage Heart From Hamburg

I think Ning has a limit to how many photos are allowed in one blog post so I will post the rest of this fabulous package in the comments section. The packaging is just as entertaining as what's inside. Erni told me he was sending his heart. Screw flowers and candy--what was inside this was decadent. He put "Domestic Municipal Garbage" on the customs form god knows what they thought of that. Too funny. And that's exactly what is inside. There are what looks like hazelnuts, squished…

Received from Stan the Man Askew, USA--BINGO on a Budget

Stan always does a great job of drawing from an assortment of antique stuff--and it always adds up to a wonderful 4x6 cabinet of curiosities. Thanks, Stan!

Something new from Catherine Petre

Catherine writes that she has been experimenting: Bold and beautiful colors on the card (and envelope below), Catherine, and a very nice, organic style. Yes I do like it, very much! And also the Virginia Woolf quote on the back of the card: "Each has his past shut…

Should We Be Worried About Thom Courcelle ...

that he created so many trashbooks in one week? One has to wonder, is it possible he is turning COB: compulsive obsessive boo? (I mean that in the best possible way, Thom.) This has been here for a little while, and whenever I'd be about to blog it, someone else would blog theirs. So we have seen several different ones, all wonderful. Above is the cover, and also the front of the… Continue

From Cheryl Penn, Ghostwriter Part 3

Wow! And I'd decided it wasn't coming: This arrived about one hour after blogging Cheryl's Ghostwriter Part 4 today, at last deciding I'd misunderstood her when she said she was sending Part 3. Strange timing. What a wonderful piece! In addition to the mysterious… Continue

Magpie Frieder

A new secret from Frieder Speck arrived a few days ago. He named it "Thinking about words" and emphasized that this one was REALLY secret, so I first thought about not blogging it at all, and just giving Nancy a hint about it ... but I didn't want to stretch things - and it's just tooooo wonderful.

It's an accordeon-binded piece with great combinations of…

From Cheryl Penn, Sandra Granthon, and JJalltheway

Following Cheryl's example when blog is backed up: Very late to the blog due to a mix-up, this is Cheryl's fabulous Ghostwriter Part 4, which knocked my sox off when I opened it. It says: "He was CERTAIN the link was Durers self portrait -- The likeness was unmistakable" and "The manuscripts revealed NOTHING" and "Bound by Betrayal. No-one he could trust." Plenty ghostly, the…

Bulk Blog for Last Weeks American FAB's

Hula Hoops from David Stafford - I KNOW I've posted this already - but just in CASE you didn't see and then have not taken up the essential sport of hoolering.  The woman who looks in the mirror. I'm HOPING she doesn't suffer from Extreme Dorian Gray Syndrome,  - I asked David to let me in on the secret... Because  we've also been seeing from this masterful story teller  Japanese cocpopthings and cat fondues, …

Another goodie from Marie Wintzer

I love Marie's work - and was so happy to receive this beauty yesterday. One of her books that reminded me of a bunker when I saw it on another blog, but in real life it is made from wonderful brown Japanese paper and bits and pieces of Russian chemical formulas and Japanese text, with a clear pocket of shredded paper. I couldn't even manage physics and chemistry in English let alone Russian, so Marie either is one CLEVER girl or has ripped up an old lab book again....

The white…

LIAM TRA LIVES

I must say that I am humbled by the enthusiasm behind LIAM TRA—whoever thought that one’s mistakes and folly could ever be celebrated and embraced to such an extent?  I am not sorry for it, because it has inspired some folks to send me their own LIAM TRA in solidarity and mirth!!!  Long live LIAM TRA!

Read This… HOW ART CONNECTS US

Always GLOWING in her enthusiasm, profluent creativity, and supportiveness of fellow IUOMA friends, AMY IRWEN sent a touching piece that was not only great art to admire, but made a connection with me that she couldn't have known about.  This piece is collage, but incorporating fiber and textiles, and very succinct references to globally-personal experiences pertaining…
