Carl T. Chew Made Me Blow Beer Out my Nose!

***SPOILER ALERT: Don't read if you wish to discover the secret of the "Most Valuable Stamp Mystery" on your own!

I get home from a workday I'd like to forget, and what's waiting for me in my mailbox?  Hmmm... a non-descript envelope, no return address.  I crack open a bottle of Big Sky Summer Honey Ale -- 'cause it's been that kinda day -- open the envelope, which is full of cut-up pieces of paper... unfold them and the enclosed "anonymous" note, and literally BLOW BEER SUDS OUT MY…

Received from Tori Mann, USA--Visual Pathway

I like red and green being opposites on the color wheel. New IUOMA member Tori Mann uses these complementary colors in this piece to make her mail art pop. It has a nice haptic feel to it too. Thanks, Tori!

My Triple Turn from Marie Wintzer - Japan

We had been in despair Marie and I about lost Mail Art.  I know its part of the process, but ALL THAT WORK – just lost in the Ether – it doesn’t seem fair somehow.  But yesterday was different. Yesterday was My Triple Turn.

First off – a shoe polish box Marie found at an antiquarian in Prague. A shoe polish box that went from Prague, to France, to Japan and is…

San Francisco from Japan! Thank you, Tomoe!

Two beautiful mai art cards arrived in Greece from Tomoe in Japan. Both depict scenes of San Fracisco. The one on the left is by Tomoe and the other on the right is by her partner. Tomoe used a most delicate and soft-textured paper to print her painting, and it is a joy to the touch!

Thank you so much, Tomoe! Something in the mail to you soon,…

C T Chew sent "world's most valuable stamps enclosed" for my very own

What a nice guy:

It was Angie&Snooky, I believe, who received this recently, and I commented very covetously about it.  Voila, Carl sends me one of my own!  Of course one of the best parts is this, on the back of the envelope:

There…

Stamping and embossing - from David Nguyen

I met David last year when he was a guest researcher in our lab for a month. Those were really good times, we had fun. Towards the end of his stay we found out about our common interest in photography, went out on a great photo walk (that cemetery with cherry blossoms, for those who have seen the picture, was taken on that day), and had ridiculous photoshopping…
