Received: Mail-art and stamps from Sherri Ayers (Corona, California, USA)

September 25, 2010 - Like a number of other IUOMA friends, I'm working through and taking time to appreciate just a phenomenal wave of mail-art arriving. I received my first envelope from Sherri Ayers. In addition, to her art she included a very nice hand-written message and an invitation to participate in a mail-art poetry show. Sherri sends paint swatches. You compose poems based… Continue

A Blog Post for Bifidus Jones by Cheryl Penn The Backbone of the World

Mail Art received 22nd October 2010

I received one of Bifidus' beautifully quiet but intense collages as a contribution to The World is a Town Project. It is so well made it survived the journey to Africa with narry a scratch. Bifidus, it is beautifully integrated - anatomical text with mapping - the text and linear elements of the map and spine drawing are seamless.

I was going to call it - Is The World Spineless, but… Continue

A person's a person, no matter how small - from Deborah Davidson

A great piece of etegami arrived from Hokkaido yesterday. "A person's a person" is part of the oil spill series and pictures plankton swimming amongst blotches of oil. I'm very fond of Deborah's work, and I will proudly add this card to my growing collection, thanks dosankodebbie!

Received: Mail-art the way Mother Nature intended from Mim Golub Scalin (Richmond, Virginia, USA)

September 25, 2010 - I received a very thoughtful post card-size piece of mail-art from IUOMA friend Mim Golub Scalin that could possibly - and things are certainly open to multiple but all equally valid interpretations - make reference to a number of topics that have emerged here at various times ranging from vispo, to ripped collage, to shoes and fixing people's shoes. More of her… Continue

This site...

While I love being a member, I have not been here a great deal because I think this website is

such a tangle! There seems to be little order as responses don't follow messages, everything is

disjointed and maneuverability is tedious.

I've not run across a site quite like it and am a member of another ning site...int'l collage...which is not as 'busy' looking as this.

Nothing anyone can do about here...just needed to express as someone left me a message and

I found my… Continue

Thank you and don't forget to send art for ongoing project ... http://fortheloveofcats-mailart.blogspot.com/
A few of you have sent...the art is posted on the blog. I'm not always certain where the
contributors/artists have seen the blog, so if you have not been thanked personally (outside of the blog),
Thank you!
Nikki S.

Broken Scanner

I Have been receiving wonderful M.A. from artists all over the past week or so and I was hoping to get it all scanned and thank everyone this weekend. My scanner seems to be stuck. It lights up bup the light doesn't move. I hope I can get it repaired but doubt that. ANYWAY>>>>>I have people to thank:

Elaine The Librarian sent a wonderful piece about her first typewriter. Typed with transparent colorful keys over the typing. And the words "tap...tap...tap".… Continue

220 Never Say Wonderful Until... - for De Villo Sloan

Ain't Misbehaving is a movie from 1955. It's amazing how many American movies were aired in Japanese movie theaters at that time, if I believe the number of ads in those small Tokyo magazines from the 50's. Japan was still occupied by the United…

Received: Mail-art book (add-and-pass) from Cheryl Penn (Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa)

September 25, 2010 - Cheryl Penn is an artist in South Africa who I see as working in that borderland between written text and visual image. For lack of anything better, this area can be called the visual-verbal. This is a limited edition (1/7) mail-artists book. I included what is actually the back cover of her book, because everything she is doing is very much centered in an… Continue
