Received from De Villo Sloan, USA--Q for Bifidus

Asemic poetry exists as an apparition of traditional poetry. The beauty of it is that while there is no language "to read" it still retains the sense of text and meaning. The controversial Marshall McLuhan, in his 1962 book, The Gutenberg Galaxy, predicted a post-literate society where reading and writing will no longer be necessary. I see De Villo's piece as post-literate because I know his mind is deep and wide and his…

The cult of the Giant Amaryllis - from RCBz

I like to receive RCBz's japanesque cards, his wild imagination never fails to impress. Japan's Shintoism is largely based on Animism, and I'm not surprised if a shrine worshiping a giant amaryllis actually existed somewhere (it would be less weird than the cult of the Giant Penis in Kawasaki, true story, check it out).

I like the back of the card because the red symbol could also represent the typical gates of a shrine, to… Continue

A Blog for RCBZ "Alexander Wept"

Mail Art Received Beginning November 2010.

Across the ether eye RCBz spotted a title that tickled his keyboard.

The result was a series of 10 postcards which will be collated into a book. The first problem Alexander encounters is the Rubik's Cube. As opposed to ONE Gordian Knot, over 100 million cubes… Continue

Mail from John Bennett

I mailed John a "happy Fall" piece and he responded in kind. There is a very wonderful 8x11 piece of art in the package but my scanner is smelling strange so I'm stopping using it until hubby gets home. But here's what I could capture and love as much as the art (sorry John). He stuffed a lipton tea bag with treasures. The map, I believe marks in green where he is. Then there's the asemic. Is that right De? The grocery list! I cracked up.

He sent a bunch of delightful Vispo as I am now… Continue

Received from Henry Denander, Sweden and Greece--The Poetry of Mr. Blue

Henry's little booklet is a short story about a poet who finds his poems expressed in paintings done by an artist who has never read his poetry. "And the more I see," states the narrator, "the more connections I find to things I've written this summer, I become really perplexed. I find painting after painting with titles or motives that are based on the poems I've written. It feels like I'm in a vacuum, everything else…
