ADD & PASS - The X Files

In the Mail Art activity, there are interesting ideas that are explored, like Mail Art Calls, Collaborative Books, Visual Poetry etc, and we also have the  ADD & PASS, which are created somewhere in the world by a Mail Artist who send by mail one "object", proposing that it be changed or simply Added an Artistic Intervention by another Mail Artist, appealing that the "object" being referred back to an following artist, chosen randomly or not.The original creator Add its Address on the "object" in hopes that later return him, filled with interventions of Mail Artists from different places and countries, giving him a great satisfaction to see the "object" with a new "life".

This group aims to be the dissemination place to the Add and Pass, and a ARCHIVE of it, however, giving preference to " Booklets",becouse it is here that the individuals have their own space to give wings to is imagination and technique.

Here are two pages of Jon Foster's larger magazine A & P.  Or maybe it is MomKat's?  It has been through a few people already.  Would anyone else like to add to this?  There are some nice pages…Continue

In 1985 I did such a ADD & Pass project.

Eventually the papers got returned, documented and exhibited.

Postage was cheap then.

You’re absolutely right, and that’s an important point to highlight. What makes this group unique, in my opinion, is that it focuses specifically on showcasing and archiving complete, finished projects—exactly as the name 'Add & Pass: The X-Files' suggests. This is the place where we can preserve and share the full 'case' of each collaboration.

Perhaps we could bring some fresh energy to the group by inviting members to showcase completed projects here once again. This could help breathe new life into the group and further strengthen its role as an archive. What do you all think?

One thing to note: there are TWO add-and-pass groups here already, as well as an add-and-pass group that specializes in A&P books and a group that specializes in A&P deco books.

I'm a member of all four groups.

Just wanted to point this out!

Thank you for your responses Fleur and Martine, it’s so nice to hear that there are still active members! I have something ready for you, and it will go out in the mail today.

It seems like this group isn’t as active as it used to be. Would it make sense to start a smaller, new group with more engaged participants? Does this group still meet everyone’s expectations and needs? Or would it help to start a collective challenge to bring some energy back into the group? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Hello everyone! I noticed that the last post in this group dates back to December ‘23. Are there still active members here, or anyone interested in collaborating to bring some new life into this group? I’ve initiated quite a few Add & Pass booklets recently, as it’s one of my favorite mediums. However, I’m starting to feel a bit discouraged—I'm not sure what's going on, but over the past year, it seems like only one-to-one contact is working, which is a bit unfortunate.
