Received from Karen Champlin, USA--Peaceful Peacock

Karen's work continues to wow with her personalized stylistic elements--the layers of indecipherable ledgers, net, word lists, and string. To me, this piece looks like something found, something washed ashore. I like it very much.

Super-hero triptych - for De Villo Sloan

I like building up diptychs and triptychs with my photos, and I just found out that I can do the same with mail art.
I'm definitely in a diptych/triptych mood, there will be more of those.

The battle for art history - from Grigori Antonin

There was a time when I thought that I would never receive another postcard from Le Grigstaire. Or at least not with that same signature of his. I was wrong, and so happy that he resumed his mailing activities, it was a great surprise to find this in my mailbox.

This piece is quite a dark one though. La Battaglia di Legnano (see below for the original painting) is quite a violent sight on its own. Like in an attempt to erase… Continue

Received from Katerina Nikoltsou, Greece--Lions and Leaves

Katerina's FeMAIL Art always lands in style. A real leaf--from what kind of tree, I don't know, but I love it. The laminated memory of her Chicago visit to meet up with other IUOMA members earlier this year came in a little envelope--a great bonus. Katerina has recently risen to starlet status due to her appearance in Petala's video of…

Seek - from Karen Champlin

Another piece of Karen's Bad Art closely followed the first one. Just kidding :-)), this is an awesome and very special piece, Karen.

It's funny how cardboard and paper can turn into powerful imagery. I see the search for a Treasure Island. The cardboard sea is covered with grids, calculations, estimates, routes. All of them leading to the Island of K, if everything goes well and the winds are favorable. I'm quite sure I won't get lost,… Continue

Can't find a title for it - for RCBz

I'm sometimes starting something with a clear idea of what it should look like, and then it ends up in a limbo. Like this piece. I now think it might send out the wrong message. Like ugly vs beautiful, man vs woman, western vs asian etc... Even if it is based on a famous Japanese wood print, I'm a bit worried that it might come out as borderline racist. I can assure you that this is not the case (or not my intention). At all.

I… Continue
