Received from Roland Halbritter, Germany--Post für Otto

Ein Mail Art Projekt

I recently received this wonderful book full of a vast range of interpretations of the 19th-century figure of world affairs. The Otto von Bismarck mail art call was active for 18 months and Roland received over 900 pieces, no small response to a complex subject. Inside the front cover is an original stamp above the book number--just one way in which…

Received from Karen Champlin, Art Nation--The Nascent Conspiracy

After regularly receiving Karen's work, it is evident that handmade collage is important to her. The connection to humanity formed through her mail art, through the cardboard, the text, the stamps, the rip of map, hardware and all its irregularities, is a truly a personal treasure. Thanks,…

Re-writing Marie - from Cheryl Penn

I have learned a little bit more about Cheryl with every piece she sent me. Over the months I got some insight into the way she works, which was also fabulously summarized in the "Overlapping (paper/thread/space)" piece, and I became acquainted with the fascinating concept of Re- .

Little Bit of Everything From Cecil Touchon

This envelope came today including some asemic writing (asemic group/concept in general makes me think of the movie "Crumb" and his brother who got more and more lost in scribbles and concentric circles. Not in any way making a comparison regarding the fact that he was mentally ill so hopefully you know what I'm saying). Also a TX lottery ticket, some paper ephemera and a poppers… Continue

Two Great Pieces from Erni

So how is it that the US came to be known for hamburgers? This minimalist card made me laugh. The other "Young Star Fest" has a good theme as well. The back says Bon Appetit or actually "buon appetito and Guten Appetit". Love the torn out section adding an even more layered effect. Thanks Erni-you're spoiling me with all this mail but I'm not… Continue
