Mail-art by IUOMA member Kerri Pullo (Tucson, Arizona, USA)
June 18, 2013 - I am always excited to receive correspondence from dear friend Kerri Pullo - aka Kerri A. Rose Con Pollo. This time around…

This is just an artist's rendering so don't get all excited. Moan Lisa has a little problem with presentation ie these beauties came stapled together like a stack of receipts. Please, people. This is your art and it's pretty cool...do not staple...if you have to tie something together bike down to Hobby Lobby and get some raffia, or green duct tape or…

A fold-out artful yet beautifully ordinary "boekie" of drawings (with a touch of color) arrived from Les two days ago. (With a wonderful note, inked on a recipe book page that gives instruction for Bohemian Sauce and Genoa Sauce, which may be in serious and dire competition for all we know.)
With her art she expresses moment-to-moment life, its pain and hope and…

This deeply inspiring boekie arrived from Marie in the winter. It means a lot to me on many levels. I don't know whether others received and blogged a version of Musical Tinkle, but here is what I was lucky to receive: …

This beauty arrived in an envelope painted with richly joyful colors from Amy Morton, a recently new member of IUOMA. I was and am delighted by Amy's work, and quote some thoughts from her enclosed note:
"I dabble in many mediums but my main passion is historic photographic printing processes." "This is 'Ice Melt' and it is printed in a cyanotype…

... and they were extremely lovable until David Stafford told me this. But then they remained lovable. Sometimes a line can be drawn between art and life--or is it that they're so juxtaposed as to be indistinguishable?
That is plain old gorgeous.…

This trashbook from Neil is raw and real, as all his mail art is. The boekie's pages held a letter and so just a few selected pages are shown in this post--plenty to appreciate the rawness and reality: …

Hey there kids, although I've received most of the zine submissions back from you guys, there's still a few out there. I'm going to try and start putting everything together in the next couple of weeks, so...July 15th is it. No big deal if you don't send anything, but if you want to be in the zine I need your submission by then.
Boo to deadlines and…

A reference to the Magambo Night Club, Iowa City hotspots (you did some serious research David), and a water snake, i see a moray eel too, all in an envelope my husband likes. But then who wouldn't.…

Received one of Rebecca Guyver's wonderfully evolving trashquilts. This one is the most colorful and magical I have seen. That she is now incorporating trash formed writing is taking it to a whole other level. Perfect ad promo for DKult Rebecca! I hope that billboard deal for DKultUK goes through. It IS very beautiful, but definately not too pretty for DKult. This will show the softer, more feminine side of DKult and hopefully attract more desperate housewives and spinsters.I don't think…

I don't know if this(or these) are considered collaborations, but that's what I'm going to call it/them. First image is of a goodie package from Jon Foster. I used almost the entire content of the envelope to create the piece in the second image. …

WA's collage and drawing arrived in a homemade transparent…
ContinueI got my mail art homework in on time this week! I like the course, but I'm not that big on collage, so it's not quite as exciting as I had hoped it would be. But, I'm learning things, so I'm happy. The course I'm taking is Introduction to Art: Concepts & Techniques
This week's lesson happened to be on mail art. :-)
I wish she would get more into drawing or painting,…
