Asemics, folios, stamps, ephemera from Kerri Pullo (Tucson, Arizona, USA)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Kerri Pullo (Tucson, Arizona, USA)

June 18, 2013 - I am always excited to receive correspondence from dear friend Kerri Pullo - aka Kerri A. Rose Con Pollo. This time around she sent a lovely envelope containing stamps, ephemera, folios and asemic writing. Above is a very interesting example of her asemics. You need to look closely (enlarging works best) to see the mysterious script that is like some ancient text inscribed on a weathered stone and fading.

Kerri Pullo also sent two little, I am calling them, folios that contain loose items. Maybe they could be considered protective sheaves. They are very nicely and thoughtfully made, apparently some time ago. Here is what the folio looks like when it is opened:

Again we meet Kerri Pullo's anna-mona-trixie characters. Here is more of the folio material:

Close up!

I commented very favourably in a previous blog on Kerri Pullo's stamps and very much appreciate receiving some new examples.

Here is the second folio that contains a variant photo connected to the ongoing "GASemics Series," a Kerri Pullo/DVS collab.

All this arrived in one of Kerri's trademark hand-painted envelopes:

We are striving to document and archive all our Kerri Pullo holdings. Many thanks to my dear friend!

Kerri Pullo has an amazing blog. Be there or be square:

Thanks Kerri. Not Hi Ng claims Timothy Leary lives in the back of his van out there in California.

Maybe Not could get Dr. Tim to have a look.

Thank you so much everyone!!! ...De Villo, as far as my green it looks as I remember it...(but that may possibly be due to a history of lysergic exposure??)

That's reassuring, Rebecca. I tried to adjust the scan to capture the original colour but fear I created psychedelic bad trip asemics at Kerri's expense.

Kerri clearly has a background in Arabic and Islamic Art.

Arguably (remembering to tip hat here to Henri Michaux as Guido Vermeulen would insist), modern asemics were established by Brion Gysin during that whole era of WS Burroughs in Tangier.

Gysin's prototypes were Arabic/Japanese calligraphy grids.

And that green is FABULOUS! Love the way you've unravelled it for us, too, DVS. Beautiful work!

Thanks Comrades, I'm glad you like this material from Kerri. Her asemic writing is fantastic, and she is getting a lot of exposure in that area on literary blogs, etc.

Even if not a huge IUOMA presence, she seems pretty active in m-a. I have not the faintest idea about how to make stamps, so I'm in awe of people who do.

Thanks for the comments and also to Kerri.
