Hannah Höch (fan club)

Information

Hannah Höch (fan club)

Some mail artists add a stamp print to their mail art, saying 'Hannah Hoch Fan Club'.

Until I received these stamp prints I never had heard of this artist, who was born 1st of November 1889. She has been a collage / photomontage pioneer. She was part of the Dada movement and also became involved in the De Stijl art movement.

For anyone who has a Hannah Höch Fan Club Stamp (and interested others, I haven't one), this group can be the place to share your thoughts and mail art, tributing to and/or inspired by Hannah Höch.

Envelope, inspired by Hannah Höch's works, sent to Miss Noma about a month ago.

I am not sure if it has arrived yet. But at least here's a scanned version, in honour of HH.

Glad it arrived, Heleen!

Thanks for posting it :-)

In from Katerina. Two Hannah Höch stamp prints  on the back of a cut-out canvas. The colours of the canvas somehow remind me of some of Hannah Höch works. So I posted here.

Thank you very  much, Katerina!

Welcome all to this group, and an extra welcome to Katerina, who was the one who has sent me the Hannah Hoch stamp print, several times.

And yes, it was Kurt Schwitters who suggested to Hannah Höch to add an extra H to read her name in two directions. That was in 1921 (I read in a book on dadaism recently :-) )

Erni, in Hamburg, once told the story about how Hanna Hoch and Kurt Schwitters were dear friends. And Kurt suggested that "Hanna" add another "h" at the end of her name so it would read the same...backward and forward :-)

So it became HANNAH!
