Dear Ruud! We can celebrate a holiday in Russia with EXHIBITION Mail art! And to think up cards and posters! And to publish the small book devoted to this event!)))))

It would be possible for me to hold a mail-art exhibition here in Rawdon, Quebec, Canada. Each august we have a ''Intercultural Festival'. It would be amazing to present the ''25th anniversary of IUOMA'' with mailart from us, members all around the world : )

Gosh, you made me realize that I not only have been a member of IOUMA since it began but that I have been mailarting for 27 years, having started in 1986. I shall join in the celebrations of course. Cannot think of anything at the moment but no doubt it will come to me, perhaps the Shopping Trolley Gallery will come out from retirement.

Here are today's absolutely brilliant suggestions -- choose one!

Suggestion #1: 25 x 25

1. IUOMA members are asked to join a special Group mailing to celebrate the 25th anniversary; (Assuming 10% sign up, we should have about 250 participants).

2. Everyone who joins up receives 25 special IUOMA anniversary stickers (from Ruud?).

3. On Anniversary Day (whenever that is) every person mails out 25 pieces of Mail Art to 24 people of their choice on the list, plus one to Ruud.(This may need refining to make sure that everyone receives something. Also the Breda post office might need to be alerted to what's coming it's way.) Each piece contains the anniversary sticker, plus whatever else they want to put on it to celebrtae the anniversary.

Suggestion #2: 25 x 25 x25

1. as above

2. as above

3. we try and get 25 different Mail Art exhibitions organised to coincide with the anniversary (one, hopefully, in Breda or somewhere where Ruud can get a copy of what's being mailed out). The exhibitions should have a common, but not necessarily identical, theme.

4. everybody who's signed up mails a piece of Mail Art (with sticker) to each of the 25 exhibitions -- who are thus guaranteed of receiving about 250 contributions,  enough to form the basis of an exhibition.

5. the organisers of each exhibition can run it in the normal way, asking for other contributions, selecting a theme, etc.

6. if there's going to be more than 25 exhibitions organised, then we call this:

 25 x 25 x25+ (the +/plus is important).

'That's great, Val!'

'Thank you", he says modestly.

cool, I can probably organize an exhibit here at The Underground Gallery in Whitesburg, KY USA

What is the exact anniversary date? This may influence the holding of Exhibitions; Or doesn't the exact date matter?

I'm not sure that simultaneous exhibition in every home town would work. It might be better to organise on, for example, US State lines, or by the various (European) national groups eg French, German, Austrian, etc.

And/Or there should be one REALLY BIG EXHIBITION -- in Breda, perhaps?

Stickers and/or stamps should be produced (by whom, I don't know: although I do know who Mijnheer Rubbger Stamp is!) and we could buy and use them.

How about approaching the IPU and seeing if they would provide any support (publicity, financing...)?

Ruud, if you want to publish something on this, my earlier offer to help edit any English-language version is still good: just ask.

And on the subject of a book (if it is to be physical which i hope it will be, and not on-line) as Mail Art is very much a democartic 'peoples' movement, the people -- you, me and whoever in IUOMA is interested -- should be asked to contribute.

That's all for now.
