What's your default? 7 Replies

Because my friend Matt asked me this the other night, I had to think about it. His is painting a blue sky and some clouds, then he waits to see if anything more comes. His skull for Skull Appreciation Day was just the blue sky & clouds cause…Continue

Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my…Continue

Significant dates for the diary (some might say...) 41 Replies

McFloozy mentioned Quack Day in February and I had a message from Valentine Mark Hermann telling me of an anniversary in February. I figured that it would be best to put all the dates in one discussion, so anyone could contribute and we could all…Continue

shhhhh don't tell her I have revealed her! She rarely drops by IUOMA, so I may be able to get away with it if you just DON'T TELL HER!

The pieces hanging like that are just so festive and energetic. I imagine them moving as people walk by them. How wonderful. And nice to see Elena, too.

Andy,

That is unbelievably beautiful.

I bet the teachers found real inspiration in this exchange. Congrats to you!

And on an entirely different note I just wanted to add this little pic

It;s got flippin EVERYTHING in it. Mailart mailart mailart and Elena. What more could you want!

This is from todays mailart display put up by my students at work. I'm not an art teacher, far from it (physics actually) but as some of you know, I ran a lecture for art teachers a few months ago.

As a result of this, the art teachers now keep a mailart portfolio during their school placement! Every week they send a postcard to someone else in the group, showing their support. This was what they produced in 12 weeks. It blew me away and I'm still buzzing!

I'm just about to blog it, but really wanted to share it with you guys first, cos I'm sure that you know how happy and proud this has made me. I'm feeling awesome!

I have not lost track of numbers or people to whom I've sent card, and I suspect I won't because I'm one of those people who digs organization and has systems checking systems. HOWEVER, I noticed something a while back that might help everyone with numbers.

When I post to the MailArt365 blog, I always title my posts with a # and then the number. Once I hit the # in the Title field my browser shows me a dropdown list of ALL my posts beginning with a #. If I type #3 it will show me only those that start with #3 and I can easily see where I am in the numbers.

This may be a function of my browser (I use Safari), or maybe it is a setting in my preferences. I don't know enough about other browsers to figure that out. And, of course you have to have a consistent title naming system.

Or, we can not worry so much about the numbers and such and just have fun :-)

I did mean I historical significance right there...

Yes the "your REAL wall" concept has rather boggled folk since it's inception. In short your digitised REAL wall is an acceptable substitute in the circumstances given that it would be rather impossible for me to see for REAL all of my post on every wall I send to.

Perhaps Paula could go a step further and digitise an image of a wall, perhaps one with a digital significance, Photoshop some postcards on it (including one of mine of course in order for it to qualify) then send it to me, thus making the first non-REAL REAL wall ever on the site...?

That would be kinda novel

My head is kind of spinning here.

So, if Andy sends me something, and I put it on a wall, and digitize a picture of it for display on my virtual landscape, then it can go on his virtual REAL wall. SO, if there is something on Andy's REAL wall from ME, then should I digitize myself, and put it into my virtual ReAL world? What if I am not REALLY there?

or maybe I should digitze ANDY and make a virtual REAL Wall (as I can afford more digital real estate than genuine synthetic wallboard type).

Maybe I should go home and make dinner now. TTFN!

PS - my friend in Missouri is saving a dead computer mouse to bring to me when I go from Massachustts to Florida. We shall send it to someone who has NO idea that one can mail a mouse with stamps on it.... HA!

Oh fab! People are making REAL walls! Never thought this would catch on...

Remember, if any wall you photograph has a piece from me on it it qualifies to go up on www.myREALwall.com as an example of your REAL wall.

I'm really excited about this global explosion of installation art. How exciting!

I like the idea of a monthly (or periodic, maybe six-weekly) wall. Now... I gotta go get me a wall.
