I am very new to IUOMA and don't really have a grip on the technology side of things yet but my main objective as of late is written work, though I was raised a painter and still do illustrate my poetry and conceptual writing, I am on a quest for a good group with which to deal with the poetry side of art, I just completed a somewhat poeticlly/abstractly written and styled short manifesto in order to intro my non artist friends here in maine to the form...still, I want to share with mail people who care about it and I crave hearing or reading others interpretations too! I am in short super interested in joining this group-only I am totally naive here, I think I'm missing a plug in or something, so I only have one dinky pic posted, no writing. IT was the first thing I emailed Ruud-how to share written work online, I try it on facebook but it's just not IUOMA! Anyhow please let me know if u can help. I'm sure I'm just a poetic dabbler as it was not my area of focus in training or career but man am I prolific and all of it is about art, art history, dada, mail art, ART. Thanks! Hilary

My old and severely missed friend Lon Spiegelman is heard saying on one of the tapes in the VEC archive:
"I ain't erasing shit, what cuts goes". This gem of audio wisdom has become an iconic statement in VEC audio terms!
On another tape Linda hollers "You are scaring Lee" (his son) to which Lon replies "I'm only beating on the bathroom floor!"This made it onto 'Mail art dada skank" by Tacky and the original VECettes our 70s hit. guffaws
I no longer give forth with banter on the novel group space. It seems to offend the sensitive amongst us.

Thank you for the explanation. It seemed to me to see words hard and I'm the one who had asked Megan to join us here, I felt a little responsible.

Wow! That's an old picture, taken before even i arrived here! And I came shortly after the Romans... or was it Napoleon... left.

The wall seperates the river Maas from the dredged canal. During the summer the whole of the inside (city side) of the wall is coated with pleasure boaters in their expensive launches and yachts.
I give a special VEC tour of Maastricht to my visitors, feel free to drop in the next time you are in the neighbourhood!
Does Google feature the pedestrian bridge betwwen the city park and the new area called Centre Ceramique? The building with a rocket on the other side of the river just before the Kennedy(?) bridge is the Bonnefanten Museum where I have a show this year. I'm going to do an audio performance in that weird tower, it has a smooth 4 second echo.

My congratulations for repairing the lock.
I travel to the medai markt over the top bridge on the photo but return via the bridge that takes me into the heart of the city. Maastricht is a very small city but has six bridges.

Lol... yeah, me too, but I'm expecting a new Eden. : ) It's so annoying how passive the American populace has become. It's like we're all regressing backwards to infancy. Well, except you and I, of course! :)

Cool letter box Bird! Reminds me that I went to buy media at the media mart the other day and the girl asked me for my postcode which has coincidental similarities with my bank pin code, I told her my postcode but this totally threw my pin code out of my head! I had to cycle all the way back home, check my pincode then cycle all the way back over the bridge which crosses the Maas river to the North of Maastricht so that I could secure my goods... why did your photos remind me of this event? Because I was impressed by the security locking system seen on your letter box. It's just another Monday.
