Mailart Inventory and Plan

I've been fielding requests from friends wanting mailart, and I want to keep things straight, so I'm going to make my first blog post a listing of everything I've sent (and am planning to send) and received, and update it as things progress.

Whenever I post new pictures, I'll update this and republish it. I hope you all enjoy.

Mail Art Received Second Week of February

With great elation I received Susanna’s beautifully crafted Letter Q contribution to Project 26 – a mythological artifact.  It even carries the fragrance of a mythological order of Flutterby.  Susanna is a fellow Alternate Realitarian I can see.

Negotiating a borderless reality, Planet Susannia is a place of special, exotic … Continue

Recebido de Sr. Cardoso, Portugal--Minimal Interiors

From the House of Paranormal Mail Art comes Eduardo's, "Minimal Interiors". He began with a photocopy of interior anatomy and added collage elements of the alphabet, the title, and images of 3-D objects. His signature red stamp contrasts nicely with the muted tone of the piece. Eduardo's mail art reminds me of Magritte's, "Treachery of Images--Ceci n'est pas une Pipe." This is…

Received from Ka van Haasteren, Nederland--Sacred Spring

Maybe it's because I'm tired of winter, but I'm seeing clear signs of spring in this work: seeds, femininity, fertility, and by the look on the figure's face, she's thinking something hopeful. Like her previous work, Ka's precise collage straddles the line between…

Blisspo - from De Villo Sloan

When I cannot look at your face

I look at your feet.

Your feet of arched bone,

your hard little feet.

Those are the words of Pablo Neruda. Nothing arched or hard here, only the sweetest feet ever, gently resting on a Byzantine floor, so light they could actually be floating. Just one look at this card and a…

Received Art From De Villo Sloan

I received this Visual Poetry work from De Villo Thursday evening.  Several things about it strike me.  De Villo has always been a master of color and this piece illustrates that once again.  I'm guessing now  but it looks like Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, and that reddish rust color may be Burnt Sienna watered down.  All not important.  Underneath the paint is De Villo's trademark… Continue
