Never ending or beginning...

"URGENT" - asemic red and haptic poetry: music to my ears, textures for my touch,

Letter U from ejva and assorted Chinese treasures

Yesterday I found this very exciting envelope waiting for me in the mailbox.... ejva's letter U for project 26 and some wonderful Chinese documents and a savings book! U's images convey the sense of the world's overpopulation - masses of people, some beavering away on vast production lines, and an aerial view image of housing, an image all too familiar at the moment of Japanese towns devastated by the tsunami and earthquake. Unity? Yes I think so evja.

The savings book?  Add, pass,…

The Peace Crane Project

I've thought of an idea that I'd like to share with fellow artists.  Perhaps each of us could make one origami "Peace Crane" which we could send to a contact person in Japan. There's a story that's told in Japan which says that if you make a thousand Peace Cranes, a person or persons will be healed.

They're very easy to make and you can find instructions on how to do so from dozens of websites. If you can't find instructions, send me a message here and I'll give you a copy of…

Mail from a nearby city

I received this very cool collaged postcard from Amazon59. Apparently, we live in the same state. I don't usually run into folks who live nearby in the mail art world. Kathleen also used a bunch of old stamps, which added to the fun look of the…

I received this postcard a while back from Super Aska in Australia as a part of her "Imaginary Exhibition." She wrote that it is a partial image of one of her paintings. I'd love to see the entire piece and I am delighted to be a part of the…

Special mail art from John Baldessari arrived today

On some group, on some blog , here at IUOMA, we were discussing the art of John Baldessari. I sent him some mail art, and he replied with this "primary colors" card of his work "Three figures (with manholl)", 1988.

A black and white photograph with vinyl paint....96 x 72 inches! Amazing 'minimal' , primary…

Haptic Prayer card from Bifidus Jones

Another treasure in my mailbox yesterday was from Bifidus - a postcard full of information and images! Thankyou Bifidus! Great stamps too.

The reverse side is wonderful - it seems to have a Gothic feel to it, maybe it is the image of the bones and Centaur - dont know - and the happy rabbit behind the mesh? Nice! I like it a lot.…

Jennie Hinchcliff's M for Project 26

Jennie Hinchcliff! You rock! What an adventure....I can totally visualise your saga, so well written, I was immersed in the late night greasy diner and the 4 day roadtrip! The map is ambiguously presented adding to the mystery of the whole journey's events. Well done Jennie and thankyou.

And a clever idea to include the insert with a description of the…

Marie Wintzer's Windmills and Tokyo Night

Lucky me - I received 2 works from Marie yesterday all the way from Japan. I must say I felt a sense of sadness when I saw the beautiful envelopes, knowing that when they were mailed Japan was in a normal happy state of mind.... by the time they arrived here  Japanese life had changed forever.

Marie your windmills contribution is wonderful, so interesting to see how everyone has portrayed the lyrics in so many ways. Your work is delicate and quite ethereal, looking through the clear…
