Post boxes

In my holidays I took photos of public post boxes sometimes, but sometimes I forgot it. Feel free to upload your own, but not letter boxes please.

Sometimes I use this gold double postbox in Wimbledon - it was painted gold to mark the gold medal that Sophie Hosking, from Wimbledon, won for rowing in the London 2012 Olympics. Smashing isn't it?

The ghost of a postbox in Wivenhoe. This house used to be the post office.

This photo I made in 2010 in Frankfurt an der Oder, a town in Brandenburg (Germany), located on the Oder River, on the German-Polish border directly opposite the town of Słubice which was part of Frankfurt until 1945.

This photo (that I coloured) shows me, in Leeuwarden (Netherlands), at, what is probably my first postbox "visit". Perhaps I am posting a letter for my mother, because I don't think I already wrote cards -even less, sent out mail art- at the age of 3 or 4, beginnings of the 50ies.

Well the times look good, but if they really collect at that time could be another story.  I did notice that there was no pick up at 12:30 during lunch.

Ah yes, Sri Lanka might have been one of those places.  Thanks for pointing this out.

If the times are to be believed that's a wonderfully efficient service, but the post boxes look very like recycling bins to me! I have read in catalogues of places where stamps were issued without gum, as otherwise the humid atmosphere would stick all the sheets together.
