I was re-reading the book about W. Reginald Bray, also known as 'The Englishman who posted himself and other curiosities'.

And I discovered this crocheted envelope! Over 110 years old! 

It has been created by his mother, Mary Bray, who sewed a small piece of card to it to affix the postage stamps. 
The address was not that extended in those days (October 1899).

It's so nice to see this group get more active. I love the art.

I want to post a photo and my thanks to Gina Ulgen for sending me this wonderful card, all the way from England. Gina: it's a long way to Texas, I couldn't get Google Maps to tell me how far, it seems to be stymied by the ocean... I can't believe you apologized for not sewing this yourself. It's so great! I think it's time for me to get my sewing machine warmed up, or figure out how to put Hardanger embroidery on a postcard!
