It spans mixed media, collage, paper and textile, it is multidisciplinary, crosses the boundaries and fuses 2-D with 3-D art, sculpture and wall art , wearable art and adornment. I love also how an artist like me who works in  crochet, painting, collage, origami, kirigami ,recycle art and jewellery making can use all these skills and integrate them in fiber arts. It has so much scope and in my view has not gained the world wide exposure and appreciation it truly deserves.

This is inspiring.

thanks

I completely agree Maie.  When I work on fiber art pieces, my husband plainly states he "Doesn't get it".  He says it's not art but craft.  He's still stuck with the image of me making scrap quilts for all our beds when I was in my late 20's.  I'm now in my 50's.

I so relate! As a multi media artist, I often find a stitch will do better than any glue made. And last longer! i also love the feel, the reality of hand stitches in the work of others, and have been known to use a simple running stitch in the body of my work. I'm used to the hand-stitched page, or book art, but I think the same principle applies. I've been a hand sewer since age 7, and I often prefer it to machine made work. (go figure!)

I would love to know more about your group, and am really looking forward to getting to know you all!

Please keep me informed!
