So I'm following this guy out of DeVillo's Parking Garage. Some Eldorado or somethin' I dunno. Maybe it was a Monte Carlo? All cars look alike to me. Anyway, he's stopped waiting for traffic and I'm readin' the license plate...except, it's not really a license plate...I guess it's a bumper sticker. Anyway, I can't believe it....I see this name Richard Canard....yeah, that guy. Only it's not him...it's a fake....FO REAL...Faux REECHARD. What are the odds? I don't know what to do so I start honkin' and he thinks I'm gettin' impatient. I can see his head twistin' around and gettin' agitated so I yelled "Canard! Canard!" but he think's I'm sayin' 'Retard Retard'. It went downhill from there. Never did find out what it meant.

"Dick Duck or one of Ray's prize potato mashers."

Wow...as Johnny Carson used to say, "I did not know that."

I get the "Entertaining Mr. Sloane" thing a lot. David is the first to point it out in this, er, context. I think King Richard is aka Dick Duck but at the risk of... still what I'm doing is expressing admiration for Richard because he was an original member of Ray Johnson's NY Correspondance School and humbly & with great ability & energy carries on with us long after the fact.

Vizma,

I'll let Mr. Sloan field that question.

David, how did you know when you named this blog that we would be 'Entertaining Mr. Sloane" ??

I didn't know that someone else had used this DD term before, it just came to me like a canard from the blue, or L'Orange.

I'll be darned. I've seen that Dick Duck name attached to RC, I mean Richard Canard not Raymond Chandler. The Stafford Noir is glittering darkly today.

Glad to accommodate, DVS....I'm reading (at a snail's pace) Farewell My Lovely and clearly it's rubbing off. Dick Duck was Roger Rabbit's best friend. (All his scenes were cut from the final edit).

Consider this Dick-tation. Yes, I have seen the parking lot, been there.

Funny Vizma - when Richard sent a flattened beer can to Geof Huth labelled "Asemic Poem" - Geof referred to him as "Dick Duck" too. Who is Dick Duck?

It's a long road to infinity.  But my guess is that there is a parking garage at the end.
