CRAFTED by Cheryl Penn...gentle threads, sharp pins and the sweet smell of linseed oil

It begins coming from an asemic-ZALOP envelope and it just has to be good!

Deep and dark, with warm brown tones and asemic "lace" with gentle threads from stitches.

What mystery is that "shadow" amongst the pages?…

Lisa's rat book

Lisa Iversen (Skybridge studios) sent me this old Japanese book she found in her attic, I think. She wasn't quite sure what it was about but she thought that it would be of interest for me. The book didn't look unfamiliar to me, as it is a lab manual. I am only showing a few of the softer pictures, but there is a little bit of everything. How to handle lab rats, how to house them, anaesthetise, dissect, perfuse, analyze data etc.. It looks like it is from the 50's, and 1000 yen was a hefty…

Ben the Bin (the goings on) - from Katerina Nikoltsou

Katerina cracked me up with this card, and I am certainly not the only one. What a fantastic way to depict the IUOMA Zeitgeit, and what a great sense of humor. I have to admit I sometimes find it hard to find my way with things at IUOMA moving so fast. Zalop, asemic, haptic, trashpo, sandpo, 365, holes, anti-holes, you name it. Pfiuuu, it's a real sport. Oh, and I forgot the year of the squirrel rabbit, how sweet you remembered that I am…

The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery

The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery.

The creative process is a cocktail of instinct, skill, culture and a highly creative feverishness. It is not like a drug; it is a particular state when everything happens very quickly, a mixture of consciousness and unconsciousness, of fear and pleasure; it’s a little like making love, the physical act of love.+…

DELIGHTful mail art from Valentine Mark Herman, revive my memories of Constantinople in March!

Diane Keys Trashpo card

I have been remiss in not blogging this..... it arrived on Friday and I have been catching up on other mail whilst this DK was hiding on my studio desk, it should have been 1st in the queue! Sorry Diane! I like the tonal quality of the crossword and old document collage, and the application of what we call modgepodge (sealer) unifies the surface. The card looks like it…

Windmills Project from Angie and Snooky

Fabulous Angie! I like the delicate handmade paper with circles within the fibres and the suspended circles on threads, so fragile even though you have used red and black, hard colours. Thankyou! What must I do with the enclosed little envelope boekie from Samuel Montalvetti? Send it back to you or to samuel? Must I do something in it?…
