I received this gorgeous vispo from Fancy Bell. This is a series of 4 and this is entitled: Brain Operations My brain on: lack of meditation. At first glance I thought it said lack of mediation. Really excellent and evocative piece. It makes me think of being bombarded by news media and advertising and the brain trying to filter it all out and still maintain ones own…

I had a very long, very crappy day of training yesterday. By the time I got home I was simply "over it" but when I checked my mail my whole day changed. Nothing makes you feel more special than homemade birthday mail from friends around the world! My birthday is not until tuesday but I can already tell it will be a good one :) Thank-you both so much, you two made my day!!! xoxo
This from Sarak in the UK. Just realized it's not a good scan...3D doesn't do so well on my scanner, not…

In the most JOYOUS OF WAYS possible, Katerina Nikoltsou of Thessaloniki fame has let the tide of BLUE PAINT flood the postal systems around the world and the happy mailboxes of IUOMA members. My face crinkles in a wider smile every time a see one of her white and blue-edge stiped envelopes in the mail box, and her trademark "BLUE" and "MAIL" and "ART" carved rubber stamps proudly announcing the theme of the envelopes' contents (all with their own variations: "Zalop"; Trashpo"; etc.). I can…

I think this envelope got returned to Frieder, because it was included in another envelope and they both had cancellation marks. It's a beauty. And I love the stamps on the back as well.
The card is a cut up…

I'm continually impressed and inspired by Nadine's character studies... her latest gift to me was no exception:

Spring FIBER ART SEASON is upon us. There have been some quilting league upsets, some sewing machine contract trade-ups, some promising rookie youths entering the fray... But Boo Cartledge--a hometown favorite--will always make the team!!
On this fiber mail art piece by Boo, some young feller from the Indiana Braves graces the front--I daresay that this work is hand-stitched!…

Nancy, Yes, you nailed this. It's a NBS abstract expressionist piece and your inspiration is obvious, Katerina of course. And the cobalt blue shimmered through the glassine envelope. Gorgeous. Thanks.

Many of you would laugh to see me sitting here on my sofa, typing this blog, SURROUNDED by mail art in layers and piles on every remaining inch of the upholstery that my butt is not taking up. I wanted to make sure that I had it all nearby as I tried to describe it. I am having to use Nancy Bell Scott's recent invention of the "Blog Jam," which is, I think, an iteration of a tool used by Cheryl Penn in the past, and undoubtedly by others who've been overwhelmed by the blessing of mail art…

This is no ordinary comic strip, when Sarah is on the move it's often embroidery we are speaking about and this is no exception! Unfortunately my scanned picture doesn't really show where the embroidery is, but it's the black around the text and between the strips. Sarah is telling me that this work/comic strip is to be continued.. wonderful! Thanks…
