Thom Courcelle's packet of goodies

Opening Thom's envelope was a bit like opening a CARE package, filled with uplifting and unexpected things.  First, there was Thom's envelope itself, painted beautifully in watercolor:

It's lovelier in person because my Mac Image Capture does a rotten job with orange.  The starfish's markings are more a burnt orange on top with lighter and brighter orange underneath. …

Guido Vermeulen - Standing Out in A Crowd

One of Guido’s beautiful envelopes arrived on a grey day.  It was relatively intact – I KNOW the tears and smears and missing bits are part of mail art, but MAN! I just HAVE to get used to that.  We’ve got things with teeth here in the mail boxes, that’s the problem… - The title - "Standing Out in A Crowd"

The colors, the composition, the gloss paint reflecting its…

I'm living in psychchondriac luxury!

this is great, I love getting back to my real life and figuring out my shit.   I've been painting abstracts all day.  Mostly been collaging and cartooning lately so it's good to paint some canvases finally since my absurd show at M's is getting stale.

I've been living by myself for about two months now and it has helped me discover the surfaces of my identity which I…

OOB OOB OOB OOB OOB OOB OOB

Say that a bunch of times fast and you begin to wonder if there's a subliminal message in there somewhere!

This piece is the first work that has come to me from newish IUOMA member Nancy Bell Scott. It kind of shocked me in its wonderfulness -- not that I wasn't expecting great art!  Unfortunately you can't tell in my poorly taken photograph, but the streaks of paint…
