I received this clear envelope with ornate labeling from Thom Courcelle.  When I turned it over, I flipped out!  Thom the mad knitter created a Fluxus masterpiece!  So so much work went in to this piece.  Thank you   Thom!!

Thanks for blogging this work, Karen. And I'm glad it made you so happy--that is the directive of the mail artist, non? ...to spread happiness through the mail! Just doin' my duty, ma'am.

These started with two fiber/textile mail art calls--one the Kaunas Biennial/Fluxus, the other Lisa Iverson's Textile Mail Art Project.  The two of them came out so quirky and fun that I have decided to do a series of them.  Since I am only using a 4.25 x 6" (standard postcard size) card-stock as a template--the thing that makes the piece rigid and flat inside the knit work--it's kind of the perfect size to do a little sampler. I love free-style knitting and crochet as art, so each piece is definitely an original!

Thought I would send one to you, Karen, as creator of the Fiber & Textile Mail Art Group, and try to make one for each member in the group--assuming they would be a prime "target" audience.  Sending them as they are completed. The one Karen pictured above is number 5 (I think).  They are numbered on the little admission tickets enclosed.  Jen, I believe yours is number 3 and was sent at the same time as Superhero and Karen, so keep an eye out.  If--heaven forbid--it doesn't get there, let me know.  I've got photo documentation of it I can send.  Hope all the relentless heat you're having there in Texas doesn't MELT the polypropelene envelope!! LOL!  All best to everyone...
