DK, that was a terrible time for Sandpo. It was a dictatorship that you reformed, and I think the work goes on by many of the original members, Katerina especially.

Yes, and I want to be clear Jim Leftwich named his pieces Trashpo, so he gets the credit for starting it, although you have moved it ahead far beyond its humble beginnings. Trashpo is definitely a real thing. It has roots in found art, but it's more than found art. It definitely is poetic, but as we're seeing, as litter-ature rather than literature. I guess it's always good to run through the history from time to time.

I meant made HER more suspicious, not HE. I think I will just carefully step away now. I don't think I can win this one. Now it appears I'm masculinizing her....

I know, right? What kind of trashpo artist am I that doesn't know all the history. Thankfully we have you and Erni to impart your vast amounts of wisdom that usually invovle heavy amounts of Googling. It's great.

Did Cheryl ever accept your public apology?

I think your denial only made he rmore suspicious. The no expulsion rule had to be passed once Sandpo moved into its kinder more gentler phase. Has Sandpo gotten washed away by the tide? But my heart belongs to trashpo. plain and simple

Almost forgot biopo (biological poetry) and synthbipo (synethetic biological poetry).

My guess would be that Jim Leftwich (not Leftwish) originally used the term Trashpo because L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E poet Ron Silliman was trying to creating shorter words for various current avant movements so they would be easier to talk about and write about. To the best of my knowledge, Silliman invented terms that are in common use now: pomo (postmodernism), vispo (visual poetry), avantpo (avant garde poetry), Langpo (Language poetry) and others.

Since these terms hit mail-art, there has been an explosion of new terms such as Sandpo (sand poetry), fluxpo (Fluxus poetry) and so on...

DK! How can you not know the origin of Trashpo!

Trashpo was invented by visual poet Jim Leftwich (Virginia, USA) circa 2005. Leftwich made the original trashpo pieces. A link to them can be found in "The Great Trashpo Summit" thread in the Asemic Writing Group. I'm always REALLY concerned that Jim Leftwish receive credit, although he has never commented on the new wave of Trashpo. He is an IUOMA member.

DK, as a member of the Sandpo Movement I take total exception to your version of Cheryl Penn's expulsion from Sandpo. I do give you credit for outlawing expulsions. You were never implicated in my attempted expulsion of Cheryl, except that she believed you were involved. I made a public statement of apology and denied your involvement in the incident.

Thank Goddess for you Erni-you are a virtual warehouse of info on all things art:)

Well isn't he the trickster! (I didn't come up with that garbage term, it's Theresa's, from her literary knowledge.) Thank you for this IUOMA history; once one is here to stay, it really is helpful. DeVillo was very helpful in giving me a picture of the asemics conflict that apparently happened shortly before I stopped in and started living here, haha.

Trashpo works as a term. A few weeks spent googling all these terms and their abbreviations, during sleepless nights, would make those nights worthwhile. Thanks, Diane! And that is an amazing art installation.

Erni, 4000 pix! I had a collage series going called "Urban Evolution," which has been seriously interrupted by mail-art. Are your 4000 online?

I don't know who originally came up with the name trash poetry, but I think DeVillo abbreviated it to trashpo, but then i don't really know. The whole sandpo thing was a complete fiasco. DeVillo came up with a fictitious quote from me basically calling Cheryl Penn a social parasite.   I barely knew Cheryl at the time-she must have hated me until he confessed HE wrote it and it was complete garbage.

I though this art installation was cool with the silhouette
