I found this stamp in my old letters. I have no idea if it is old.

Wow, it must be 30 years ago now that I sold rubber stamps at the National Postal Museum.  One was the quote from John Donne, "More than kisses, letters mingle souls.."

Oh yes, we’ve visited the Postal Museum every time we’re in DC. It’s kind of creepy to see this taxidermied Owney. He looks a bit shabby but then he’s been around awhile. The shop sells a cute plush Owney. We couldn’t resist! We have one. Good your card arrived even in mangled shape.

I received this mangled postcard from my sister who was visiting the National Postal Museum in DC. Here is the text:

"A stray mutt wandered into an Albany, NY post office in 1888 and eventually became the unofficial mascot of the Railway Mail Service.  He rode with mail bags on trains across the country protecting the precious cargo along the way.  Railway mail clerks attached medals and tags to his collar to record the dog's travels and in 1895 Owney traveled with mailbags on steamships to Asia and across Europe.  The story of Owney is told in the exhibition "Mail by Rail," in the museum gallery "Moving the Mail."
