Even though it makes sense that we can look on each others profiles, you may want to add your address here and any blogs or other accounts you want highlighted. This way it's in a closed environment and we all get to share.

What's your default? 7 Replies

Because my friend Matt asked me this the other night, I had to think about it. His is painting a blue sky and some clouds, then he waits to see if anything more comes. His skull for Skull Appreciation Day was just the blue sky & clouds cause…Continue

Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my…Continue

Significant dates for the diary (some might say...) 41 Replies

McFloozy mentioned Quack Day in February and I had a message from Valentine Mark Hermann telling me of an anniversary in February. I figured that it would be best to put all the dates in one discussion, so anyone could contribute and we could all…Continue

Okay, let's just make Mail Art as a daily practice. If we can send it, great, if we can't send it, that's okay, too. Just make it daily, a daily practice of making, and then someday, maybe some of it can be sent out into the world. Did anyone ever say NO to electronic mail? I don't think so. Cost of mailing is an issue for some, maybe even many, of our group. Let's not make it an issue for us, let's just MAKE MAIL ART and post it. big electronic hugs for all.

'Wish I had the problem of "to whom" should I send! I have filled my "address" chart for January, mostly to those who have sent me and I wish to answer in kind and with holiday greetings. Then also for January, my New Year's resolution is to send to the mail art calls and projects.

I haven't yet sent to all in this 365 group! And that will not happen in February because my list for recipients is already full to 28! ( 24+4 Greek letters and all going to the Greeks here at IUOMA.) Sooo, many will have to wait until March and Springtime... (me thinks there are not enough days in the year....)

And if I can keep the mail art in an envelope under 20grams, then that will be a 72 cent stamp for 365 days = 262.80 Euro...lots of dollars, too! Averaging about a-dollar-a-day when sending other things as well? Put it in the yearly budget... I am on a GREEK pension :-0

I have been sending mine daily, but as my savings dwindle, and I continue to be unemployed, I may not be able to continue that practice. I added the postage for just MailArt365 for December and it was $16.23, not a huge amount, but it adds up over time. And I do send lots more mail than just MailArt365.

I hope you will keep posting to the blog, Camel, and send when you can.

Loads of my pieces have yet to be sent, I don't tend to address them straight away, but like to think about who would be most happy with them once they're made. Don't stress about sending, just drop an address on them and send when you can, but as Mim says keep posting to the blog

I think what I am gonna do is this:

I will post my daily mailart..

If someone wants that peice - they should say so in the comments of the post & I will address it to them...

then I will send out as I can....

I use vintage stamps (not used prior) on mail. Cancelled it goes into the collage part. There is really no value to old stamps unless they are super old and rare. Use what you have. Camel, make mail art, post it on our blog, keep making mail art, post when times are better.

Oh wow! I love those stamps Postmuse! Grinning from ear to ear. I hate it when people apologise for the tastelessness of people who lived in the past, and these things really have a certain date to them. Real collectors items

I have used a couple of the most tasteless postage stamps ... "Retarded Children Can Be Helped" and "Alcoholism. You Can Beat It!" .... both as postage and as part of the art on the front of the card. Sometimes they offend, sometimes they don't. It's always a gamble.
