Wondering if people in this group have any recommendations for (hopefully free!) programs out there that convert our stunning characters into truetype fonts?

(I'm using the 2014 Long-Term-Support version of Ubuntu Linux and Win7 operating systems, but I know some people here use MACs.)

Anyone here have suggestions what programs asemic artists would find useful in font design?

Previously, I've used a website (I think it was www.yourfont.com) to convert my own traditional alphabet into a font, but it charged me $8. to do it. (That was a discounted special too.)  Paying is fine when you're doing something useful like making a font. But it's expensive when you're making asemic art and want to test it to see how the characters work together visually as art.  So free programs - that's what I'm looking for.

Have others made fonts here that we could download and install? Please describe them!!

Hello, Franis.

I just checked my copy of CorelDRAW v9 and it can export to a TTF. I've printed what its HELP says as a PDF if you'd like to see it. It's one symbol/character at a time so I suppose it might be slow. I got my copy of CDv9 for ~~$50 USD a looong time ago by purchasing it with a new computer. More recently, I don't see many offers of older versions of software online so this may not be a good idea unless you already have a vector-based graphical editor.

Franis. I don't know if you still have interest in converting images to fonts but there is a free program called Font Forge. It is, however, at least for me, difficult to learn. Y'r ol' Bud, Fike
