Bonjour Katerina! Has Dean got you collecting banana stickers too? I mailed a 5-in-a-line complete bingo card to Anna B this morning, and await my invitation to lunch in BC, Canada. (I assume Dean is paying all the travel, accomodation, etc costs). I made 2 trips to the fruit'n'vegetable market this morning and got (inter alia) -- 6 bananas, 14 banana stickers (but only 4 of them were different), lots of dirty looks from stall holders, and the inspiration to write a (very) short story about Mail Art & bananas for Mark Sonnenfeld's give-out sheets. Bestest, Val

I forgive your forgetting... but I'd still like a slice of that cake!~)

This morning as I was walking back from the vegetable market where I bought aubergine, tomatoes and haricot beans, I passed a crew checking the street lighting, one man was up the ladder whilst his two collegues leant against the wall nearby. 20 meters further along the street two Africans were standing in their shop doorway watching. As I passed I said “How many Italians does it take to change a lightbulb?” One of the Africans bent double at the waist laughing, I have never seen anyone laugh like that before.

dear Kate, I would dearly love to drop by for olives, feta and whatever else you still have left to eat in Greece... now I come to think of it I do like Greek food!~)... However, I have to remain a brave dutiful artist and be at and be seen to be at my post in the gallery, making collages, posing with pencil in hand etc. Sigh.

Yes the weather is somewhat warm for the time of year for this pseudo Viking although the weather man tells me the temperature will plummet come Friday and for me that is good news.

Just to prove I am not in Iceland here is a picture I took this afternoon

that is not my long ship blue blistering through the middle.

Having a writing time... which is good

hugs

You're very welcome, Katerina, and believe me, I understand about scanners. It's a fluke I had all those scans--usually just do the front of them before sending--i really don't know why I did them all on that one! As if there wasn't enough to scan that day so I did it for fun?! Haha. The books are lot of work to scan; the ones I receive, no matter how much I love them (and do!!), I usually scan the cover and just a few favorite pages. We'll all go nuts if we scan every single thing. I was putting up some photos anyway last night, and discovered all those and included them for the hell of it. Thanks for your blog and nice comments, I'm very glad you like it ~ and again, it was so much fun getting the cards from you and Dean, and then to see pix of you both decorated with empty wine bottles and working away in Paris -- great to see you!

Bonjour! And many thanks for your Parisian card that must be the only one in history that does not feature the Eiffel Tower! I'll be mailing youn something back next week.

Do you have any news (and a current address) for Laurence R? When i go to the UK in the next couple of weeks i want to mail him one of those little books you so kindly made up for me. he was interested at one stage in being an illustrator of it, but then got ill. I think that he's like to receive your visual lasterpiece.

Hope you are well. Are you still travelling?

Bestest, Val

Hi Katerina;

I got the phone number of your hotel from their website and also I have found a tube map of London for you. It is the best way to go around London if you do not know it well. You can download it from

http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/standard-tube-map.pdf

I will phone you on the 27th to arrange where to meet. Let me know where you would like to go in advance if you can.
