stripygoose surprised me with this incredible rendition of Ohio's state bird. This thing is huge, only just fit on the scanner. The mail carrier kindly put it behind the screen door rather than force it through the letterbox.

Even better, she has a great story to go with it. And in some crazy postal weirdness, she had to add a customs sticker, even though it is a card (on cardboard, actually), and cannot be opened!

And better yet, there is a pair of cardinals that camp out in my back yard. The female...

...and the male.

Thank you so much, this was such a great piece to receive and enjoy.

Ah Finnbadger, I see you were referring to the stamps not the map bird series, either way, an interesting observation.

Yes - colourful plumage is very tempting, but sometimes I call them "she" anyway...

A bit sad that only the male bird got attention on all 7 of the cardinal bird state stamps!

Well, while there are 50 States, there are less than 30 birdies :-)

I'm gonna give up the day job - this is clearly a full-time project.

Yes - great blog agreed. And thanks again Dean for alerting me to the US state birds theme. Fancy me not knowing that before tut tut...

There's no stopping that girl now!  Her birds have me smiling all day.  Even if I didn't know what Ohio looked like before, I do now.

Bravo again Sue & Thanks Phil for the wonderful blog.
