I have had the same old wallet for over 25 years and it has been everywhere with me, never been lost, never stolen and never been completely empty of money.I reckon it is time it took a well earned retirement and so I have come up with a new project.I want to fill the wallet with "art" versions of everything that there might normally be found there ... money, credit cards, receipts, small photos, stamps ..... I have just spent a day working on my artistamp album which is coming along quite nicely. I have decided to include a few pages that will be "about" specific people, for instance, I have started a "homage to Duchamp" page (which has only one stamp on it at the moment ... a Hungarian stamp of the Mona Lisa with a moustache drawn on it). My project for 2011 ... update

I have decided that, as part of "documentation" for this little project, I would add a posting here every month or so - a sort of progress report - and a record of how the project grows or changes, choices made and decisions taken. I have already started posting scans of finished, or near finished pages in a photo album on this site and I am making plans for some sort of written documentation for the projects end, so things are sort of coming together.

My project for 2011

It has been at the back of my mind for several years so it is about time I got it done. Not exactly a mail-art project more of a "collaborative artist book" project or some sort of mini archive which is why I thought I would mention it here rather than announce it as an "event".

For a long time I have been putting by odd stamps ... not just the occasional artist stamp that has come my way but anything curious or unusual ... stamps from made up countries, tourist labels and "real" stamps… Continue
