Mail-Artist since:
1986
My Website:

Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
Was involved in the cassette / music side of mailart in the 1980s /90s. The whole idea of a network of artists connected by the postal system appealed to me and was an antidote to the stranglehold the 'Art / Music' establishment had over my creativity.

I have always considered mailart to be one of the major unsung heroes of Art History and every effort should be made to raise its profile.

Here are a few network related things I have done this millennium. http://www.thiswindow.org/Mail_Art/?cat=3

This Window (aka Peter Bright): I would have wanted to work, but deep down I’m enormously lazy. I like living, breathing, better than working. I don’t think that the work I’ve done can have any social importance whatsoever in the future. Therefore if you wish, my art would be that of living: each second, each breath is a work which is inscribed nowhere, which is neither visual nor cerebral. It is a sort of constant futility.

IUOMA MOBMA (Museum of Bad Mail Art)

I frequent thrift stores looking for frames and canvases that I can re-use. I find something sad and intriguing about the handmade art that finds its' way into the donation piles.  As an offshoot of the amazing Museum of Bad Art  (MOBA) http://www.museumofbadart.org/I am hoping we can assemble a unique collection of the ugliest reject art out there. This can be one you find, something you have made, bad industrial art for the masses, or mail art…See More

TREES

A group devoted to the art of trees: free medium. Without trees the world would be dead and a place of disaster. With trees the world can tackle global warming. Hug a tree and you hug the earth, you hug yourself and your neighbors. Without trees, no love!Without love, no trees.A sequel to the mail art project SIGNS and STONES and TREES (of 1998).Guido Vermeulen started this group. After his death the IUOMA members keep it alive with posting photos and drawings of TREES in memory of Guido.See More
