stripygoose surprised me with this incredible rendition of Ohio's state bird. This thing is huge, only just fit on the scanner. The mail carrier kindly put it behind the screen door rather than force it through the letterbox.

Even better, she has a great story to go with it. And in some crazy postal weirdness, she had to add a customs sticker, even though it is a card (on cardboard, actually), and cannot be opened!

And better yet, there is a pair of cardinals that camp out in my back yard. The female...

...and the male.

Thank you so much, this was such a great piece to receive and enjoy.

Sounds like Dean will take care of the money, if you take care of the art :)

I'm getting worried now FB - am I drifting into out-and-out commercialisation, the very antithesis to mailart - help!

@stripygoose - Well, you should be done with the US States by February, then, no sweat. And I love that you are calling your release of 365 birds a migration - that would be a great title for a book that would compliment your upcoming t-shirt range.

49 should be a doddle compared to 365...

Plus stripygoose has already done one, so only 49 left!

Bloddy Hell Kats, you're going to give her a heart attack!  Then again, 50 states is do able.

Your bird seems more neutral, as both sexes have red beaks
