Remembering the VW Bug - a new Add-n-Pass

It saddens me that Volkswagen has decided to cease production of the Beetle. I have lived in San Francisco for nearly 30 years without owning a car.  But I have fond memories of zipping around in that orange, 1973, VW Super Beetle during college.  That car was so fast.  I actually have dreams where I still drive that car.  After a trip to Europe, I plastered the back of the car with stickers in various languages, mostly…

Color pencils from Lorella Castagnini

A lovely piece of art, with a magazine  article.  I don't read (or speak) Italian, but I believe the article is about the inventor of the hexagonal pencil: Ebenezer Wood.    The two pencils on the left  are little tiny pencils.  Its amazing how something as mundane as pencils can be new from a different perspective.…

Can Trashpo Endure in a Green World? Cor Reijn (Zaandam, Netherlands)

Cor 7.10.2019 - good

Mail art by Cor Reijn (Zaandam, Netherlands)

July 10, 2019 - I was elated to receive this wonderful card from good mail art friend – Cor Reijn – in the Netherlands. With this elegant and highly conceptual piece, Cor Reijn expresses an issue that I am confident many are pondering at this moment. (Yet no one before has been able to express it so perfectly!) Thank you Cor Reijn.

I believe the question is…

INteractive art from Kathy Barnett

Kathy gives plenty of warning before I open the envelope- Its so cool the way she coordinates the whole package each time.  The birthday cake is a great touch. Of course I took no heed of the clear warnings.  Love the way the…

summer books

I love the variety of cool stuff that shows up in my mail.  This time I received two books on the same day.  They are so cool, so different, and so hard to document: can't slap these babies in the scanner.  Thank you both!  Rani Goel for the book with great tips-in in the pocket and Debra Mulnick for sewn (hand and machine) paper and cloth artwork enclosed in a vintage photo folder.…

Mail art by IUOMA member Cherub Ayers (Oxford, Ohio, USA)

July 8, 2019 - I am thrilled to welcome a rising star in the mail art constellations to my humble blog. At the MinXus-Lynxus blog I have already extended the customary “Howdy,” wink and secret MinXus handshake to a bright-eyed Tenderfoot who is practically a neighbor over yonder in Ohio: Cherub Ayers.

. . . so I am thinking, Ooh, Blog post, I can keep a journal about what I am up to and all the hows and whys and rambling thoughts but then I look about and see that most people seem to use it only as a 'thank-you card' for what they have received so I am thinking should I bother? Would anyone read it and would it be worth the effort and can I spare the time?  I could restrict the readership I suppose and run on silent mode so to speak but I ask again, why bother?  Perhaps I shall wait and…
