Mail from John Bennett

I mailed John a "happy Fall" piece and he responded in kind. There is a very wonderful 8x11 piece of art in the package but my scanner is smelling strange so I'm stopping using it until hubby gets home. But here's what I could capture and love as much as the art (sorry John). He stuffed a lipton tea bag with treasures. The map, I believe marks in green where he is. Then there's the asemic. Is that right De? The grocery list! I cracked up.

He sent a bunch of delightful Vispo as I am now… Continue

Received from Henry Denander, Sweden and Greece--The Poetry of Mr. Blue

Henry's little booklet is a short story about a poet who finds his poems expressed in paintings done by an artist who has never read his poetry. "And the more I see," states the narrator, "the more connections I find to things I've written this summer, I become really perplexed. I find painting after painting with titles or motives that are based on the poems I've written. It feels like I'm in a vacuum, everything else…

Received: Rosa Gravino's Mapping Mail-Art (Argentina)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Rosa Gravino (Argentina)

November 16, 2010 - Do other members of the IUOMA find themselves having affinities with friends in certain parts of the world due to common interests? Right from the start, I was drawn to mail-artists from Argentina and Brazil because visual poetry is so much a part of their work and, it seems to me, so innovative in those countries and…

Lisa Iverson turned my innocent CAT into A JUNKIE!!!!!!

First let me say I received fantastic mail from KATERINA, BIFIDUS, ANGIE,and LISA for Cat Day. I'm not scanning it all because I just am off. But I must tell you what happened. Zena is a big FAT 8yr old cat that I took in a few weeks ago. I'm still adjusting to her. She could care less. The mail. When I brought the mail in yesterday, I put my mail art next to my computer like I always do. Zena jumped up on the table and plopped her hefty body down over the mail. I thought that was cute until I… Continue

Van Gogh in disguise - from... a stranger!

Such a fun postcard today, Van Gogh's eye peeping from the frame of his incognito glasses. I see you but you can't see me. Or rather, I know you but you don't know me.

Dear stranger, from a stranger. Hmmm, who could that be. I know only one person in Hong Kong, my friend Ka Pak, but I don't know, I don't think it's her.

Dear stranger, I really enjoyed your card, such a pity I can't send anything back to… Continue

A Blog for Heike Sackmann - "Mail Art Babes"

The second of Heike's Mail Art Babes arrived from Germany on 11th November 2010.

Soon after joining IUOMA I received Heike's first Mail Art Babe

Erni Barr commented a while back that Heike's work was similar in style to Hannah Hoch's. I agree - these collages are quite edgy. I asked Heike about her work - she wrote this in reply -

"The mail-art Babes represent all mail-art… Continue
