A great little piece I received just today, although my scanner seems to have "erased" an important part of the piece. There's a yellow highlighter sort of "outline" around the upper edges of all of the buildings at the top of the piece, which I believe is meant to be representative of the sunrise over the city.
If this piece is all hand drawn, it's certainly very…

As explained on the back, this is a monotype Jokie did thirty years ago. I really like it and find myself gazing at it all day.
Let me see, the big hit of July 1986 was "Holding Back the Years" by Simply Red. How appropriate!
By the way, Simply Red is…

I could be blind
And be just fine
So long as you tell me everything I need to see
Tell me everything I need to see
Like how the world has gone to hell
But it's how it needs to be
The practicality of what we deem impractical
Disgust
Like anger
Greed
Like lust
Fear
Like loss of hope
This is as grounded as I need to be
Your cornea
Your iris
Your…

A most unusual package was left on the front stoop yesterday. Newer IUOMA member Vikki Johnson and I decided to exchange fiber art mail art, so I knew that this amazingly decorated box would contain something quite interesting... I wasn't expecting such a large "production," but quite a lot of work went into this piece...so I'm going to make a visual…

When this arrived in the mail it caused quite a sensation at my house. Two friends and I all had to look two or three times, very closely, to see if this was an actual butterfly somehow mounted on heavy weight art paper or maybe a finely detailed photo of one that Heleen sent to me. I swear I can see the dust on it's wings. It's simply unbelievable. We were in shock…
