Austin is on a roll. Two pieces of mail art in one week. That's a personal best by any measure. This one features a ticket stub from Houston's legendary Fitzgeralds and a mural of Lee Quinones on Ludlow Street in the Lower East Side. I have to tell you, Austin, it took me an hour to track that down but I finally found it. This is called Dub 56 (Remix) The Toasters. I'm presuming it was the musical background while you were making it. Thanks, Austin.

Exactly! I also find reggae to be a great fuel for improvisation, & inspiration.

cool...Ska is good background music for making art...it's loose, fun, happy...uptempo...keeps you improvising...

Dependant on the time left on the disc I may include some highlights from Ft.Worth's own 'The Skastafarians' album "Drink More Courage".

If you'd like I'll send you a copy of their CD 'Rampage', featuring "Cantina Ska", a Ska version of the Mos Eisley Cantina music from Star Wars.

My ex-gf was a big fan...she had a crush on the bass player for a few minutes...They're fun...haven't been through here in awhile...The Grown Ups are hard to find...there's a nasty punk band with that name but I did find the true Grown ups on the Spawn of Skarmageddon compilation....

Oh, Brave Combo! "In Heaven there is no beer! That's why we drink it here..."; I was actually an Art major at UNT for a couple of semesters, & a Denton resident for 5 years.

David,

Mine is probably the now defunct Denton,TX Ska band The Grown-Ups, just ask Jen Staggs about them :D , or the ever-so  Mighty Mighty Bosstones, seeing them Halloween night '95 was a turning point in my life (maybe because Dicky Barret is such a cool guy, hell! He remembered my name two years later the next time I saw them!)
