LOST MAIL ART

This is a place where you can blog your mail art which went missing.  It will give us an idea of:

1) How many Mail Art pieces go missing

2) Types of Mail Art pieces which go missing

3) Which countries were involved

It will also be a way for the "would be recipient" and the rest of us to see what you sent.

Awards & competitions to be announced at a later date!

My "conventional" mail in ye ole blue and white Greek envelopes

"get lost" for a few months and then they "return" home :-(

Could it be that there are 2 types of Mail Art, and therefore 2 types of Lost Mail Art?
The first is 'Conventional' MA -- ie regular cards, envelopes, etc
The second is the 'Dean Marks-type Special' -- ie MA Plus, the 'Plus' encompassing whatever weird and wacky stuff he (and others) put on it.
I suspect that it's the Specials that get Lost much more often than the 'Conventionals'.
Which may well be why Dean started this Group in the first place.
"Get lost, Val!"
OK, good night.

Tears...many-an-odd-mail-art has not arrived in Greece...boohoo!

no sign of the banana, no sign of the vinyl...it makes ya cry!

Comment by Heleen de Vaan on August 20, 2014 at 5:05pm

This Banana was supplied with sufficient postage (€ 3.15, in accordance with its weight). And with the right address, written clearly on the back side. I posted it almost five months ago, but so far it didn't arrive.

This was the last time the Banana has been seen (by mail artists, maybe non-mail art post workers have seen it after that day?).

I still hope it will arrive!

Thank you, Dear Katerina, for the 'Unmade-Mail-Art-that-I-would-have-sent-you-if-it-existed-but-it-didn't'. It's really very good indeed. I was going to write a DvS type critical (sic) "appreciation" of it, and, of course, you, but decided against it (as I have to go and feed the cats now). I'll be sending you back some "Unmade-Mail-Art-that-I-would-have-sent-you-if-it-existed-but-it-didn't". Or perhaps I won't send it to you. Either which way, I'm sure that you'll understand.

Okay then . . .

Comment by Valentine Mark Herman on August 2, 2014 at 4:49am

It could be a white, blank, empty envelope, Erni.

It woudn't have an addressee, so couldn't get lost.

It would be "Unmade-Mail-Art-that-I-would-have-sent-you-if-it-existed_but-it-didn't".

So I won't send it to you.

But if I did it wouldn't get to you (because it was unadressed and unstamped), and so would be Lost Art.

Which is why we are here, I think.
