Fantastic work by Dan! and thanks for the explanation from which the only thing that is clear to me is that there are other ways of printing than the inkjet machine. I was wondering  how you printed that huge cardboard envelope you sent me, Dan. I heard one can print by inking a linocut, for instance, laying it on paper with a board over and running a car over the lot. May try one day. I used to do collagraphs, which are plates made of cardboard with cut outs and stuff stuck on them. I printed them at college with the usual printing press. Coming to think of it collagraphs are quite trashpo. I shall dig one up and try the car method.

I like the Letter to Myself project, it can prove very interesting. Will do.

wow! like I said--I  want to come play with your toys. like it would be a fantasy of mine to have free run of a copy shop. i would be a printing maniac on anything that i could run through a printer!  when I first started doing mail art I used to print on manila envelopes. it was awesome but def phuked up some printers.  great stuff Dan and thanks for the explanation although all i could do was nod my head and pretend I knew what you were talking about

DK, the first piece is just a digital collage. I had to have Vizma surfing down your glittery gold wave! It is printed on some postcard stock coated with inkjet ground And run through my printer.
The second began life as a photgraph of a mourning dove anding on one of our backyard feeders. A little colored pencil ork nd some photoshop work and a rescan was sandwiched with one of your backgrounds which lent the exhuberant color highlights. It is printed on specially coated lightweight cotton-poly fabric.
The third piece is a relief print made from a photo I made as part of a photo story on Middle Eastern cabarets in NYC back in'69-70. I produced a hgh-contrast positive which I exposed to a photopolymer etching plate which I inked and ran through my little etching press

The envelope is a straight print of a photo made just a week or two ago and printed as poster board in my Epson R3000

this in from thriving DKultVA!!!!!i have no idea how this image is printed on this thick cardboard envelope but I want Dan's toys!!!  belly dancer--much thinner one than those that dominate all festivals around here. I can't get away from them. Belly dancing has become the plus size women's domain here.this appears to be printed on canvas, but the material is much thinner and more delicate. really beautiful but i didn' t know which way was upcollab piece like those russian dolls: i sent him a collab background as well as this note of my daughters. he collabed it all together with this fantastic result. thank you Dan@@@@!  and this very rare photo of the DKULTVA bunker entrance
