I just reorganized my artspace to make more room for more works in progress. 1 Reply

I work on many pieces simultaneously - not just mail art: paper, mixed media, collage, panels- and I had run out of space to place incomplete work as it dries. So I built a storage rack with many shelves, shown here in the back corner. Now my…Continue

Here's my artspace today, about like it usually looks. Semi-controlled chaos.

Oh, doesn't it say Add a Page under the 3 pages? If not what would you like me to add?

Hey look! Ruud has started a couple of pages to the right where we can add little snippets of bits for all to see, so now we don't have to be beamed up Scotty- we can just say "Show us what's in that drawer" etc. I started the view to see if I could do it. Feel free to add pages..Nancy, maybe you wanna start a chopping page?? My killer was on page 1. Boy will your life improve now!!!

Chris, I have no idea where I'll put the cabinet...maybe in the middle of the room? I'm a bit scared to start changing things after Alicia's advice, I don't want to get overwhelmed halfway and get a panic attack and cry. We'll see.

Angie, you don't have to defend yourself here! Let it all hang out (of cupboards and shelves) and stand proud!!!

Did Val do invisible pictures as a joke?

Vizma - glad you worked out your cable issues & we can see your shed.  Like that cabinet - will it go on a wall?

Love all your creative messes - wouldn't you just love to be able to go through some of those wobbly piles to find what treasures lurk beneath! Now if we can only find a way to "Beam me up, Scotty!" - we could all visit each other really easily!   Maybe one day.......

There was a very brief earthquake in 1988 just after I moved to Maine. All the pictures were askew. That's the last one I know of, unless the shaking was due to a big dog like Snooky galloping down the road.

I refer to it not as mess, but organized mess.

Angie, yet another mail artist makes me feel at home, thanks. Are you saying your work space looks like that only when you're organizing? Mine looks a lot like it every day.

I'm not planning a detailed re-org, Alicia, but do need better shelving to the left of where I sit for the trays of papers and paints. Like, 5-foot tall shelving. There are too many old wire shelves, advertising boxes, and so on piled up and holding things a little too haphazardly. All we need is a very minor earthquake and I'll be dead.

Hi Lynn, the SAD irons are used for pressing art that needs it after glueing. One on the main worktable presses corners etc briefly. 3 others are put on top of books where a whole piece is being pressed: A piece, surrounded by waxed paper, goes between pages of an old 5-inch, 2200-page dictionary, on which go my heavy Joseph Cornell book and my thickest Rothko book, and then the SAD irons go on top of all that. Do you use them for your art? I wish I'd saved more from when I had a shop.
