Event Description

Greetings,

To participate, follow these instructions to create your postcard:

  1. Open yourself to creative disorganization.
  2. Break the body’s habitual functions: breathe with your belly, see with your skin, hear with your eyes, touch with your liver.
  3. Practice becoming: experiment with in-between social, gender, and professional roles.
  4. Let yourself be affected by other stimuli—art, music, substances, meditation, or any means that displace your usual sensibilities.
  5. Begin your postcard seeking a living, intensive body. Use pens, pencils, cut-outs, and materialities of your own body—hair, nails, teeth, bodily fluids, or whatever you deem necessary to “undo the judgment of the body.” Create visual poems, object-poems, visual narratives, and other experiments.
  6. Optionally, include a letter describing your experience creating this zone of freedom and intensity.
  7. Send your materials in a sealed envelope to:

Ícaro Almeida
650 Manoel Eufrásio Street
Block B8, Apt. 54
Juvevê
Curitiba – PR

Include: first name, last name, country, address, e-mail, and website (if any).
On the envelope, write: Exercises to Undo the Judgment of the Body (or to Create a Body without Organs for Oneself)

Deadline: Jun 1, 2026

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. The exhibition is getting closer, and I’m very happy to see this archive gradually taking shape and movement.

Yesterday, the Instagram account for Arquivo do Corpo was born: @arquivodocorpo.

a moving archive,
slowly beginning to reveal itself here.

I’ll be updating the archive little by little, putting the works, bodies, and correspondences from each of you back into circulation.

Follow along to accompany this movement and everything that is still to come.

Hello! I am very happy to announce that, on September 19, the opening of the portable mail art exhibition “Arquivo do Corpo” will take place at Galeria do Azu Ateliê in Curitiba, Brazil.

The exhibition is part of the Salão dos Recusados program, an initiative that challenges and critically engages with the Curitiba International Biennial, proposing other forms of circulation, encounter, and reflection within the field of art.

“Arquivo do Corpo” emerged from an open call that invited artists to experiment with and challenge the concept of the body without organs, developed by Antonin Artaud and later revisited and further developed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. From this provocation, artists created works that investigate, displace, and experiment with different ways of thinking about the body through mail art.

In total, we will have 17 participating artists from different countries: Brazil, the United States, Canada, Portugal, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Finland, Serbia, Hungary, Italy, and Greece.

Although most of you will not be able to be physically present in Curitiba, it is very meaningful that your works can cross borders and come together in Brazil, creating a network of correspondences and encounters between different places and artistic poetics.

During the exhibition, I will document the installation and the exhibition through photographs and share this material with you, so that everyone can experience a little of this moment and follow the circulation of “Arquivo do Corpo” in Curitiba.

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you, and I am deeply grateful for your patience, participation, and, above all, for trusting me with your works as part of this archive.

After the exhibition, I will send each artist a certificate of participation.

Thank you very much to everyone who has been part of this project and contributed to bringing “Arquivo do Corpo” into existence and to this point. It is a great joy to hold this exhibition in Brazil and to bring your works into circulation in Curitiba.

I sent mine to you last week. Looking forward to seeing what you put together on this interesting theme! Will there be an exhibition at the Federal University of Parará?

My entry for this Mail Art Call is on its way. I enjoyed the challenge! I would love to see photos of the installation posted here.

Hello from Serbia.

🖐️❗

I have sent my mail art in response to your call. Since I could only see the theme through the gallery format, I decided on a compromise and created a triptych (three postcards).

As I am not sure if your rules allow triptychs, I have signed all three pieces. That way, if a triptych is not permitted, please feel free to choose one to display as a standalone work.

Inside the envelope, you will also find something personal for you.

I hope it arrives safely. So far, I haven’t had any issues with mail to your country, although it usually takes quite a while to travel.

I am writing this here because I will be changing my status to 'Attending'."

Sent to Brazil from Athens, Greece on 1 Dec. 2025...how long will it take this "architectural body" (with no organs) to arrive?

It’s a bit challenging for me, but I’ll give it a try! Thanks for the invite!
