10.O7.22 ....I thought that I was more aware (than the average person) about all matters postal---but I didn't know about this. Sir Bradford seems to be is always on top of a great many topics & helpful. Thanx for Sharing. The Nonmachinable Surcharge of 39 cents appears to be aimed at Mail Artists---plus, permission to increase rates twice a year. At my age & circumstantial resources... I just don't know how much longer I can keep going anymore.( That is, "Mail Art & Money don't Mix."-----Lon Spiegelman [ Except of course, for rising Postal Costs.]
I did not know about this! Thanks so much for posting, Bradford.
Geez! And really, why is DeJoy still around? I know there was something about a committee or something was the only one who could fire him. Any news on that? It's especially frustrating when my stuff does NOT reach people.
deliveries not faster, still have saturdays and DEJOY.
twice a year jan and july
Thanks, Heide Monster! Yes, the nonmachinable surcharge is 39¢ to be added to the 60¢ letter rate. I have updated the chart to include this fee.
They have permission now to increase rates twice a year. In fairness to postal workers, inflation is real.
I believe our stamps are still a deal. I base that on what the postage is on mail sent to me from Europe.
And I think the cost for non-machinable is 99¢
And does that mean that USPS deliveries will be a bit faster?????
Hope 2 Cope!
AHA!
So, TWO light mail art postcards in a sealed envelopes up to ONE oz. needs $1.40?
(better than sending a "naked postcard for the same postage?)
Get out the food scale:
Here in Greece it is still 20grams ( about 1 oz?) is a 1 euro stamp!
Two TrashPo - EatArt - recycled cardboard cards
in the envelope make just 20 grams...yay!
(1 euro = $1.02 today's rate )
