Rebecca & Figgy Guyver: Essay Leftovers & Zwarte Kertmis Gebak

Like Mother like Daughter, a double Dutch take on Christmas baking.  So I guess we have all heard about Dutch ovens, (I see some of you running for google), but this one takes the cake ... or should I say mince pies!

This is where the phrase baked to a crisp in an understatement.  Luckly Rebecca is a Mail Artist and can save the day.  Great Mail Art.  The text is in Dutch and reads; "Some like it Hot" or maybe it says "Black Week Christmas Cakes"  Dutch was difficult for me to learn in school and in the end I got burnt out.

A connection between relationships and performing a Dutch oven has been discussed in two undergraduate student newspaper articles ... this isn't one of them.  It's Figgy's Essay leftovers, and what I can make out of them is that this is way over my head.

Another world but a very clever idea.  How far is far?   And what is the minimum to get an "A"

It's true, you can apply Poetic Analysis to anything, but you can't make it drink.  Now try that phrase on your friends & teachers at Uni.

Thank you Rebecca & Figgy, and best wishes for a productive New Years.

Where IS the Red bag anyway? Lucky she's not here or she'd be baked too. Did she end up in Amsterdam? Maybe she and Suus got arrested?

I think I'll have to try sending a vacuum cleaner bag again soon... ;-))

OH they are real baked goods alright. Somewhat glued to a cardboard support.   Should I send you the vacuum cleaner bag as proof?  OH wait, that's already been done.

But don't worry, I thought it was a real red handbag ... da da me!

I'm confused here...were these real baked goods?? I thought they were just lots of lovely photos!! :-P

Sorry, I hit the wrong button.  Let's try this again;

What better way to see these beauties than up close and personal.  There is more than meets the eye, but I cleaned it up ...

... the funny thing about this one is that it was waiting for me upon the return holiday travels.  I wrote Rebecca and thanked her for the Mail Art, and told her that I was too tired to open it that night.  All I wanted was a bath & bed.

She replied that this Mail Art and water would not really mix, so take your time.  I put it on the bedside table for the new fresh morning.

Having a cafe in bed I thought great, I can open this Mail Art now.   Big Mistake.  When I opened the envelope and turned it over to shake out what ever was inside ... thousands, yes thousands of little black pieces fell into the bed.

Just then my wife came out of the en suite bathroom and said; "What's all that black stuff in the sheets?"  "OH nothing", I said.  "I think I might be flaking a bit.  I'll see the doctor about it next week."

And the winner of this year's baking oscar is... I've heard of the rose (pink) kermis but never of the black kermis ;))

Just seen this in all its screen glory - we've been in down in North Devon for a long weekend and had only seen it teeny tiny.  Thanks again, Dean for scanning and blogging.  Fig didn't make a copy of what she'd sent. Language, baking is a foreign country!

Vizma SHE LOVED your trashpo, they all REALLY did.  They were a group of friends who met through music, and quite hilarious to be with. I have a trip to Edinburgh coming up, a mother to get to the airport and then I will be collating the drunkpo snippets the youth managed.  Yours was the gold standard, you'll see...

Great blog and great essay leftovers. Fascinating reading! Was Figgy one of the people reading the chop chop poem at NYEve Rebecca? I hope not!!
