Altered poster & FAB MinXus stamps from Borderline Grafix (Austin, Texas, USA)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Borderline Grafix (Austin, Texcess, USA)

March 11, 2014 - Borderline Grafix sent an altered poster adorned with new MinXus stamps he designed. This is a wonderful approximation of the promotional materials Dark wall made early on in the Who Has The Best Hair Contest (mail-art call).

After all the furor has passed, we will have some excellent memorabilia to remember this epic Happening. This will be well-documented in the MinXus Archives along with the Global Refrigerator Performances, Solar Festival 2012 and the International Exhibition of Holes.

I am frequently asked if MinXus-Lynxus is related to Fluxus, and the short answer is, "No." MinXus is concerned with who has the best hair. The MinXus Lexicon states: "MinXus is the opposite of Trashpo." At the MinXus-Lynxus blog, many items are tagged "Post-Neo." An affiliation with the South African School of Subtle Aesthetic Obscurity has, admittedly, influenced the work of artists affiliated with MinXus.

Some of the confusion results from the fact that many, but not all, official MinXus stamps use the simple design of many Fluxus stamps. This was simply an act of appropriation, copying someone else's very effective marketing strategy.

I am thrilled these new stamps by Borderline Grafix are now part of the official MinXus-Lynxus canon. The rogue Min(esota Min)Xus items that were (and possibly still are) circulating are an example of "unauthorized TOXIS propaganda." Among these items are crudely painted fake MinXus souvenir plates. They are so tacky and tasteless that any discerning person can tell they have no connection to anyone associated with MinXus-Lynxus.

Thanks to Borderline Grafix for all the contributions to the contest!

I do too, Rebecca. Even the Moan Lisa Fan Club stamp. You know, I hear Moan is doing some sort of ventriloquist act with a puppet or something - like the Muppets. A puppet won't report you to the police or talk back either. There's a lot of that going on right now.
