Thanks to Erni Bar

A recent and all-time favorite in the crushed can department, posing as the Big Dipper and then a flower:    And handsome rusty lids!: And a light…

Comics and rust from Erni Bar

Again months ago, this comics-encased basket arrived from Erni:

He'd gotten one himself from the shop of his mysterious, possibly delirious, never-a-dull-moment friend Senator Watrin ("The Senator") in Hamburg and posted it, I coveted it out loud, and he went back and bought one for me. Fabulous mail art! I was and am thrilled with it, and as you can see, mail art at…

PAINT by Carina

Many beautiful PAINTs by Carina in blogs these days, and this one can't be missed. I love the large black intimidating the other gorgeous overlapping colors, the whole of which adds up to reality and joy. And inspiration.

The stitched pocket on the other side held more items and words from Carina (past tense "held," they had to be released to be seen), all very much…

Fooled again and smiling

Was the package marked "rusty iron" that arrived today and appeared to be empty mailed not long ago? Methinks it might have gotten here PRONTO due to its weight--almost lighter than the packaging paper itself, almost lighter than air. But I was fooled:

Not quite yet, though at first after snipping an end off, I found that Erni had apparently enclosed nothing.…

Found trashpo/rustpo sign from Lynn Radford! Let's guess: This sign didn't work?

If you love rust, trashpo, tin, and old signs, mail art couldn't get much better than this. Here is what it looked like straight out of its packaging, before the window provided the sun's backlighting:…

Rustic concoction from Susan McAllister !

She might have found this, as is, for all I knew, but she tells me she put it together:  It touches me that Susan made this inventive art piece in honor of my love for rust. She even tried to make the middle part rusty--spraying it with water for quite a while, she said--but it wouldn't cooperate. Rust never sleeps, but now we know it isn't everywhere. And no matter. I love…

Rusty lid from Greece, YES!

Katerina found and sent me this great rusty can lid:  It's a beaut. It's a young one--probably hasn't reached adolescence yet--so its rusty and rusting journey through life has a marvelous freshness along with the telltale signs of time and exposure.

Does Katerina send only the lid? Noooo. She made a (blue) art card incorporating her own originally designed rusty-can-lid…

Enticing trashpo bubble from Lynn Radford, with words of wisdom

Lynn sent me a wonderful and original trashpo piece, part of a short series, and it is an honor. Much thought, inspiration, and work went into it, and the shape of no other mail art I've seen matches it:

Please excuse poor camera quality…

Erni Bar sends me passion!

Mine, that is: rusty and/or crushed cans--and this time a lid, to boot! This can, though some earlier ones compete well with it, is my very favorite so far.  Am IN love with it: It is such a beauty, I have to look at it every day. It doesn't get put away. Here is the other side of it, along with some other amazing crushed cans in this batch: …

And more exquisite rust, from Svenja Wahl and Katerina Nikoltsou

The top photo is of this great crumbly package from Katerina, containing some of the most beautiful crumbly type of rust I've had the good fortune to own. It will be used in mail art, no question, and it arrived with this big…

Wonderful mixed bag from Diane Keys

Diane sent me a little bit of everything, including some excellent rust and this fabulous holey piece of metal she found which I love:

Everyone likes to know whether the customer comes first in any business endeavor, and we are assured of that with DKult in the following card Diane sent:…

More Hamburg street-trashpo favorites arrive in OOB !

Am I lucky or what--a really beautifully rusted iron piece, and a can crushed vertically, which hardly seems possible but Dharmadada Erni Bar found it. If it's there, he'll find it:

Close-ups of each piece alone (other side of iron plate): …

Erni Bar feeds art to the world

Erni sent me a couple of things over the last three months:

In his urban explorations, he picks up things he knows I'll love and sends them. These include numerous beautiful squashed cans from the street, a few of which are shown above, most especially the exquisitely rusted one which has "RUST NEVER SLEEPS"  on the lid--the lid still attached and not imploded! Amazing.…
