Rebecca Guyver's Blog (185)

This piece shaved out of a magazine, I think, but the first thing I notice is it's map feel, the haptic nature of the piece and the use of pattern and colour.  It appeals to me on many levels.  J…

Nancy's pieces seem to glow

Nancy wrote to me about a week ago to tell me that something I'd sent her had arrived.  She liked it so much that she had earmarked something special for me, she said. When I send mail art out I hope that the recipient will delight in it and I guess that's why I do it.  I can't imagine anyone wouldn't be delighted, exhillarated, swept away by the three pieces Nancy sent me in return for a few pieces of altered crumpled trash…  Here is a little glowing ember of Nancy's genius.  I have…

Some Guy named Keith in Anaheim

Lots of new work on the MSK blog! Latest arrival was from Keith Chambers, although I am not entirely sure if he meant for it to be for The Postal Ledger or MSK.

But like I keep saying, it doesn't really matter! I blogged Keith's postcard yesterday but it has been sitting on my computer table and each time I pick it up I notice more.

Like who…

People are mono semi kodachroming

I LOVE to blog but if I blogged everything I get here and on my various blogs I would be blogging all the time and would never make a thing.  I like to have my main blogs over at blogger but love the noise and enthusiasm here at IUOMA so I ping…

Bananas to entertain me (and you) for 2014!

I've put all my bananas in one place. Come to the Postal Ledger to see how Dean captured me giving my victory speech with a banana or Jen's rendition of setting sail on a banana boat. Lots of wonderful banana mail art to appreciate by: David Stafford, Mathom House, Katerina, Alicia, Jen, Dean, Adrienne, Lynn Radford and eventually a few more, maybe!…

Mystery (valentine?) mail art from England

So excited to receive this (what I see as a valentine) coaster!  Wish I knew who sent it to me…

I have written a little blog and placed it on two of my blogs.  It seems a bit quick for something to arrive from America for…

Some beautiful work has arrived at the Postal Ledger!

Meeah Williams sent me a fat envelope with three books, a few original paintings and an altered playing card, a sewn card.  Phew!  It's haptic, complicated and lush in colour and stroke!

Stephanie Blake sent me one of her fabulous collages! …

IUOMA groups contributed to the festive spirit in Suffolk this season!

Now this is annoying!  I have typed this blog three times… but I will try again!

As mentioned in an earlier blog, I got lots of wonderful mail art over the holiday season but this year it was the groups on facebook and here at IUOMA that resulted in my participating in some festive swaps that made my Christmas even more jolly!

I…

Belatedly acknowledging and documenting mail art received!

Don't know about the rest of you but the holiday season has been long, wonderful and disruptive for me and mail art has arrived and sat in piles in my studio aching for documentation and replies.

Today the last of the family departed and when I made a path through the studio and started to examine the piles.  I am a bit daunted, for the moment, but also…
