Lots of new work on the MSK blog! Latest arrival was from Keith Chambers, although I am not entirely sure if he meant for it to be for The Postal Ledger or MSK.

But like I keep saying, it doesn't really matter! I blogged Keith's postcard yesterday but it has been sitting on my computer table and each time I pick it up I notice more.
Like who knew stamp edges looked so different. I know, a mail artist should know that, and I must know it sometimes,, but Keith's arrangement with the zig zag cut melon address paper, just so right. That stamp on the right is ziggy too! Even the postal coding is perfect. How did he do that?
Before I say something stupid, I need to declare. I am terrible at matching names of famous people to their faces. And I am also largely ignorant. Those things don't sink in at all. To me this says COLONIAL and I notice the repeptition of those stars and of course that a moustache is actually an upside down bushy pair of eyebrows! The target is a beautiful touch but also shocking when I think about it. The cardboard is beautiful in it's toothy simplicity.
Thank you Keith!

Rebecca, he would be "Colonial" if he were in the Raj or somewhere else in Queen Victoria's realm, but he was a general in the Union Army in the US Civil War. He's probably best remembered for an enormous explosion he engineered which left a huge crater not far from my home here in Virginia.The idea was to blow a hole in Confederate lines, but various forms of incompetence and bad luck led to Union soldiers finding themselves caught within the crater being shot like fish in a barrel. The crater is still quite an impressive structure and one of many important landmarks in the Petersburg National Battlefield Park which commemorates the Siege of Petersburg and the beginning of the the final defeat of the Confederacy.
Legendary inspiration for the term "Sideburns."
An educated guess, with the help of Google images!
Ok, is this Burnside for real? Because if you know this guy, B.G., your information or education is even more impressive than I already thought. And Keith's must be too. :--}
Why, I do declare, that's Gen. Ambrose E. Burnside!
